What is your last ditch rifle....

FN P90 with an EoTech... along with a couple cases of unobtanium (aka ss-190 ammo) ;-)

Fits disassembled in a knapsack - weighs next to nothing, and uses simple blowback as function...
Ha! Yeah let me know how that works out for you. You'd be better off with a .22 rimfire.

Me, Tavor or VZ58, depending on ammo supply.

I guess the VZ/CZ has a good point too...... 7.62x39 would prolly be one of the last types of ammo to be fully depleted. (Cept for the fact that most places that use that ammo BURN through it and cant hit anything where as most shooters using a 7.62x51 just need one shot)

A Remington Wingmaster , sawed off at the pump ,loaded with slugs and .oo buck , A Glock 17 9mm and a good bottle of scotch ...we are talking "end of days" right !?

I was actually thinking about this last night...

I would take my No.4 Mk1. If we're talking about SHTF I think I'm going to need something that I don't need to baby. I can beat the crap out of this rifle and it will still work. Bring along a bandoleer and its sling and I'm set.

Nr ps-90

x2 what Stormtrooper said..

In addition, the 5.7x28 is a versatile round that has decent energy (> 2600 ft/s out of a 16" barrel for SS195 with 420ft.pounds of energy, some 5.7x28 loads can put out >2800ft/s and 660 ft.pounds out of a 16" barrel), flat trajectory, low recoil, and little weight penalty. The round can also be used in a handgun.

sheesh... all these responses with all the tactical and or attachments for the last ditch gun..

Mine will be whatever I still have ammo for :D

Well, I guess it depends..... They are all tools for the job......
If it was one for the "zombies" in my house? It would be the Fabarm or benelli Shotty. With a sure fire light on it.

If I needed a lil more distance prolly my M4gery with my ElcanDR (Which some one ask how it is..... answer..... great...... cept for the limited eye relief..... but great glass)

Two fails right here. The question is "what is your last ditch RIFLE". Both of you selected shotguns.

Ouch...

But it would only hurt for a minute and won't put anything down.

Ft. Hood was an incredibly tragic way to prove the effectiveness of the 5.7...:( From my sources in the south, I'm told the mortality numbers would have been significantly higher if it weren't for the near immediate trauma care received by the victims...

This can't be said for the 14 body armor wearing MRTA militants who took hundreds of hostages at the Japanese Embassy in Lima.

Who would pick a rifle over a shotgun for a shtf firearm? It depends on what you consider a rifle as well.... A shotgun with a rifled barrel?

Grouse don't like being shot by rifles too much and deer can't tell the difference between a .30 caliber bullet or a 12 gauge slug.
