Canadians can say goodbye to the Scar 16s

Given that 'i' and 'o' are right next to each other on the keyboard and the name only appears once in the OP, I'm inclined to believe it could be an honest typo.

Well OK PBR_STREETGANG, I'll take it at face value that you made a typo, god knows I do all the time. However, telling everyone we will never seem them other than the 50 that might get here is a little off base. Express a concern or voice an opinion but these things are never cast in stone and cannot be treated as absolute until there is legislation, an OIC, or a law passed in the US.

Your post caused a lot of panic, especially for people who have put their $100.00 down. But, I understand how you may have been thinking. The SCAR has been long anticipated in Canada and to think it may never arrive is truly a sad statement of export laws in the US.

Might not be worth your time. I did some research about importing PS90's and FS2000's from Belgium... Everything is made in belgium except for the reeiver. The semi-auto reciever is made in the U.S.. I bet that the same is true for the SCAR16S.

Barrels for non-importable firearms are banned from import as well, 18 USC 925(d)(3). Hmm... I have to say since Ed Owens left ATF, Tech Branch has been doing some weird things along the lines of the State Dept.

Read my original post and show me where I used the word "never"
I did however use the term "quite some time", and I think it's fair to say that it complies with the Questar post.

Ok. My bad. You get my drift and I am not going to start picking fly#### out of pepper.

That's an interesting bit of info, what does it look like pre-import? Because presumably those could be imported from Belgium directly into Canada.

I have not seen it, just related from FNMI folks, and other industry friends.

It is supposed to have a thumbhole stock, etc.

Since Canada does not have any weirdo import laws, I dont see why a Semi-auto Mk16 could not be procured from Belgium.

The trick will be the volume the Cdn distributor could guarantee.

However FN is very accomodating.

I do not really give a damn how they get into the US, yada yada, or if they have to put chrismas light into the receiver. I only care about if they get into Canada.

The problem is the plastic bits are made in SC, so even via Belgium they'd need State Dept. approval. Unless they can make the plastic bits in Belgium or we're all okay with the sporterized plastic bits.

*Inventing legal solutions to importing guns I don't want to buy since 1989*

Not for a couple of hundred guns (at the outside). The only real solution would be to move the tooling to Belgium I think, given that SOCOM has given up on the 5.56mm version, that shouldn't be a problem.

If the plastic bits are worth less than 100$, then we could simply import them ourselves, right?

It's not ideal, but as long as it gets them into the country in reasonably large number quickly...

Only if FN is part of the approved export list. Theres parts that were under $100 that I tried to order through Brownells that was rejected as the company was not on the export list.
