Nice base, but I will not buy one from a Canadian retailer now, or for the forseeable future. I sure will do without before I order one from a Canadian retailer of these.

In Canada they are the double of the us price,60$ us and 120 $ Can,it's ridiculos sometime the range of we canadian's pay much more.

Should have my own personal creation finish by this weekend and then it's of to either get painted or I'll try to parkerize. Same idea though it's alot simpler.

Same here, did my own just need to be powdercoat but im waiting because im working on another aluminum parts,so like that ill be able to do it all in sametime.

Sorry to say but if it is in commercial value shipment than you can not get permit from usa. That is if it says SKS on any invoice.
For any rifle parts I am in total agreement with you. Although he is asking about a scope mount and mounts & rings are exempt from exporting permit's as I have done somany time's over.

Yes they do. But check the price. I think that is the issue.

Ah yes, I re read the quote.....

Sure you can buy it from the US and try to get it up here. But then if it gets confiscated, have fun.... ;)

I always expect to pay about 1.5 to 2x more for any accessory here in Canada... and I don't mind paying it either if I can get what I want... then again, I usually need things for obsolete rifles...

I had the scout mount and found that when the bolt carrier was closed, it just touched the bottom of the rail, continously causing problems. The tolerences of every SKS is different. There was no way to get that mount to work without modifying the scout mount.

I have used these mounts on four Russian and one Chinese SKS. The concern you are talking about is not the carrier hitting the rail but the mount itself. This can be remedied by adjusting the mount with the stop screw to reposition the mount were it sits. It comes close but does not hit when adjusted.

Do you have to remove this scout mount for cleaning?

No, you do not have to remove the mount for cleaning. When people look at the complete setup in a picture they do not realize the rail is removed from the mount with the optic still attached to the rail. Clean your rifle and put the rail with the optic back on, zero is maintained very well. This mount works just as good as any Drill and Tap mount, if you like a scout setup.

Okay so what do you guy's think about this 1?

It is painted aluminum and there is two set screws to make sure it's level. As for cleaning your rifle it will be as easy as revoming two screw's and re-screwing it back once done cleaning. Now are there anybody in the lowermainland want to give it a try?
