What is your last ditch rifle....

Correction!

Why do you think so?

I was thinking my Robinson XCR, but then had nightmares about something falling off of it. The rifle is super reliable in a controlled environment, but I'm not sure I'd want to take it into combat. Optics can fail, parts can come loose and run away... I don't think I'd need to worry about that with the Enfield. Better to have a ####ty rifle that works, then a fancy one that doesn't.

Long range- Sako TRG42 338 Lapua Nightforce NXS 8-32X56

Open field-SAI M1A Smith mount Leupold MK4 3.5-10X40 M3

Urban-Armalite 20" A4 Leupold MK4 1.5-5X20 MR/T M2 illuminated with Troy back up irons

close up- Beretta 1201 FP

Accompanied by Mr Colt 1911 45 auto

Of course plenty O ammo makes sense.

Guns are like motorcycles. You have to have choices. You have to evaluate your need.

trw m14- all bases covered

Yes good choice. Greatest gun regret is selling my TRW. If I had to pick only one it would be the M1A. I don't know why everyone thinks they need such a short barrel on a battle rifle. Carbines are not my thing. I didn't like my 11" AR.

What have you guys got against redheads?

For my Main Toy, I really think I'd take a well-tuned SMLE and let the redhead tote the PPS-43.

Might sound like junk, but it will work in 45 below.

Maybe it is time to buy an AR....an AR that works! I am sure not what kind of Combat you are thinking, but if you are thinking about zombies, a shield and a gladius probably work better than a bayonet on a steel pipe!

If you thinking about beating the crap out of your rifle, maybe you should beat the crap out of a shovel instead of a firearm.

rossi 1892 lever action in 454 casull /45 colt / 45 scofield .
nothing fancy just plain open sights and a big heavy bullet that can blow through multiple zombie heads , or just remove their knee caps in one shot .

Maybe a De Lisle and then whatever I pulled off the freshly rotting corpse in front of me:D...d:h:V:I:

If it came down to one rifle, and two acessories thats counting optics. What would they be.

My Sarac plus a tripod and tripod optics :D (now all i have to do is hurry up with getting some cash and buy that tripod and the optics)!

I assumed ammo drums+belts would not count as accessories due to them being necessities.

I don't plan on being too mobile, will dig in and hold the fort if ever the need be :D.

That does NOT meet my definition of "super reliable".

Ah, Old Painless. Definitely a classic.

You guys can have fun in the city with tactical webbing all over each other, aimpoints, acogs, if the world truly ended as we know it... I'm going into the bush with a hunting rifle and a shotgun. :) We're Canadian, there isn't a place in this country without good bush more than 100 clicks away. I know there's a good few hunters in this thread, they'd be the ones who'd get through it just fine. Urban commando-ists, not so much... self correcting problem, as they say. :)

My last ditch rifle would be my AR. I have some mags for it and enough ammo to last a little while.

Accessories would be an Aimpoint and sling.
