Hi all......
I'm getting my new SR22 hopefully very soon! I was wondering what sort of optics to mount as I've never seen the firearm live. (only in pictures) Just looking for ideas on what works the best? and what people are using?

Thanks!

H

You can pretty much go with any optics that you would mount on a decent rimfire rifle, just make sure to use taller rings. But that being said, it was important to me to keep the tactical look of the gun.

After a whole lot of looking, I settled on the Millett DMS 1-4x 28mm. It is designed primarily for use on an AR and the manufacturer claims that is is suitable for use at ranges from 5m out to 400m. It is a combination CQB sight/4x scope... I think it will be decent both for blasting gophers and some target shooting at the range.

I know a few members here have bought them and everyone seems to be very happy so far. I originally bought Millett tall tactical rings, but ended up buying a Burris PEPR base to be able to mount the scope/sight a little further ahead.

1-4x 28mm, illuminated "dot in a donut" reticle (1 MOA dot inside of an 18 MOA circle), and adjustible illumination. The parallax is factory set for 100m; but with the donut-dot system, the manufacturer claims it is good for any range from 5 - 400m.

Please provide a picture of what this looks like on your set up. Sounds very interesting.

Sure, I'll dig the camera out in a bit and snap a few pics. Right now I have the Millett rings on; I'm hoping the PEPR mount will be here early this week, but you'll still get a good iea of how the DMS looks on the SR-22.

An nice Eotech would go on the rail and provide a low mount option.
The Shooting Edge is waiting on a shipment of Trijicon Accupoint scopes too that would really be nice on there. Check out the 1-4 models on line. Heard they'll be in very soon.

WOW the accupoint is way more expensive then the whole rifle! Yikes. I guess if you had a real AR they would be a good purchase to pull double duty.

I was thinking EOtech but now I'm thinking the 4x Millet, never hurts to have magnification.
Hi mount rings work the best?

Thanks
H

I mounted a Leupold mark2 1.5-5x20mm on the SR-22...using high rings, it still sat too low for the line of sight!. I ordered the A.R.M.S-5 (AR type raiser) for the SR-22 and I am still waiting for it...unless you are using Acog or Aim point type of optics....most likely a raiser is required.
CHEERS.

Absolutely it is more than the whole rifle, and it would go nicer on an AR. That's why you buy it and enjoy it on your SR22 for a couple of years while you save up for the AR, then swap it over when you buy the AR... seeeee, you gotta plan ahead ;)
