Split .223 brass

Anybody have an idea way the neck of the brass might split when I am shooting. The rifle is a Colt H-BAR Sporter and the ammunition was Black Hills .223 55gr FMJ

Not very much details on the splitting... where is it splitting? As well, is it the new loads or re-manufactured loads from BH? Any number of reasons, hot loads from the factory to brittle necks from improper annealing could be the issue with the brass. It could be something wrong with your chamber as well... Not much to work with off your original post.

Usually necks split from the brass having been reloaded a few too many times.

"...reloaded a few too many times..." Without annealing 'em. Brass, especially the necks, gets work hardened with repeated sizing and firing.
