Reloading for CZ

I shoot 124 and 147 gr lead bullets almost exclusively in my CZ pistols. The guns function perfectly with lead bullets. There are no issues.

Take Care

Might have to seat them deeper depending on the bullet. CZ's can be a bit picky about bullet profile and OAL.

Thats true. I ran into this with my own reloading. Following that I found a couple of references that said the newer CZ's like an OAL of 1.110 inch. But a fat wide nose 147 may need to be a touch shorter.

In my case a 124 with an OAL of 1.130 actually stuck and would not allow the slide to go into battery. I had to dissassemble the gun and pop the round out of the chamber with the trusty ol' brass rod method. The same batch of test bullets chambered and shot fine from a buddy's Sig.

So I'd suggest that you load one length test round with bullet only, no primer or powder. Then chamber it slowly feeling for any resistance. After that eject it and inspect the bullet. Ideally there won't be any rifling bite marks around the base of the bullet. But if there are at most they should be extremely light marks and not gouges. If the marks seem too heavy consider going down to 1.100 inch for OAL and try again with another uncharged test bullet and casing.

For my Shadow I load fmj's to 1.115 OAL (115 and 124gr) and have never had a problem.. just my 0.02.

Not lead, I know, just adding comment on OAL..

The only way to set proper OAL for reliable feeding is to make a dummy round and keep seating bullet deeper with in-barrel-drop test until you clear riflings.
I load 115s RN with 1.105", 124s RNFP with 1.085" and HDY XTP JHP 115s with 1.09".
Every bullet design/profile and lengh will require some fine tuning.

The only ammo I have had problems with in my cZs is one batch of Brown Bear, and it was bad. Other batchs worked fine. Also shoot a lot of reloads, lead and jacketed. I stay with 115 gr. and 125 gr. bullets.
