Franchy

First, you should never pay attention to salesmen. Second, just go with the flow when it comes to pronunciation. If I'm buying a Stihl chainsaw from a redneck, it's pronounced "still", if the salesman has a german accent, I say "steel". There are many other products that give me trouble, such as, Koch, and Sauer. And don't even get me started on names like Fuchs.

See there is always a "French Connection".

Well, yes and no.... The Franks were actually of Germanic root. It was of the same language familly as what we now know as the Belgian Flemish (or, a form of ancient Dutch)... but, yes, the Romans set the Franks in north-western Gaul and provided the Carolingian dynasty wich founded almost what is now France. At the time of the Franks, there was no "French", and the common language(s) were of Gallo-roman origin....

Win/64,
I see you hooked another one:D
You are becoming a legend!

I wouldn't care much about the pronunciation, I'd be more concerned with the argumentative attitude you got from the two wanks. As if you just hapened to stroll into their shop to brag about your Franchi firearm so they could refutte your ownership and/or the existence of said model of firearm. I mean we all know you can be dellusional Sealhunter... maybe they are correct and you couldn't possibly own this fictional boom stick.
hahaha just kidding. What a coupla numbnuts.

We have here a classical case of pronunciation being about where you are from, not particularly where you are. Lee-uh-pold is Canadian English (if there is such an animal) and Loo-pold is American. And in defense I propose that you ask yourself just why a word that is spelled roof is pronounced "ruff" in the lower 48, and why creek is crick for that matter. And they give us grief over "eh"? Oh, and I shot a Franchi 2003 Olympic at about a 100,000 clay pigeons, and it was alway Fran-chee, with a long A, around the trap shooters of the day, on both sides of the border. That said I have heard it all the other ways too. However, "pull" and "lost" were always the same everywhere! >;o)

Agreed. They sound like know it alls who are costing their store money with their craptastic attitude.

I was just thinking the same thing. Seems like it would have been a good time to say something like, " Just because you two morons haven't heard of it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist." :)

Or maybe " Your pronunciation of the Italian Gunmaker's surname sucks ! "

I know a wanker round about who refers to his Super Black Eagle as a
"Benley"...

Whatever ;)
