anyone else ever had this happen
I bought a nickel Remington elliott from a antique gun seller on gunbroker for
$475.00 as a side deal.He told me he was going to continue running the
auction and also just re listed the gun again and said he will take the auction down only after he receives my money order?

his seller I.D. is chemiker anyone else have dealings with him.

No I haven't, but the minute I found out he was pulling a shenanigan like that, I'd say forget, Bud! Someone like that, I wouldn't even trust him as far as I could throw him. Tell him to forget it. Even if he changes his tune, I'd forget it.

Yep, that's pretty sketchy. It's your half a grand. He's just being greedy and he can bite it.

Edit - looked at the ad, yah, that's weird. Walk away.

Sounds like he wants more money for the gun. He'd end up returning your money order(hopefully!) if he got my when he relisted it.

I looked at the auction and looks like he explains that he cant just end the auction. He posted a message about someones offer.
He has all pos feedback so i cant see him trying to rip you off on a $475 gun.

I think the fact your trying to do a BIN deal on a Auction with a Reserve type auction running is part of the problem.

I just cant see a guy with 100% pos feedback and 61 good deals ripping you off,
mind you because you want to deal off GB you wont have the feedback option.

Much safer to just bid and have the auction recorded thats better for both partys.
just my 2 ctsH:S:

I have not and will never use gunbroker, because I see all the people posting about the slanty deals they get hung up in on that site. So other than saying run like the wind, I can't offer much help.

i would run this guy doesn't deserve your business or else he would have held off relisting it for a few days . but if you wanted that bad you should have just paid the extra $ 20 and met his reserve it would have been yours and the transaction would have been recorded like dingus said i don't think he's trying to rip you off but it's bad business to relist the item when you had a deal with him .who knows maybe he's had other deal that where similar that fell through.

I think Dingus nailed it.

Is this the auction? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=167879364
The seller explains what he's doing in this message to the buyer (you) that I copied from that auction:

Dear Bidder, I am in need of cash for a show, so I accept your offer of $475(Please include $20. for shipping and ins). I cannot lower the reserve wjhile auction is in progress, so you will have to email me to confirm this. Thank you, Dennis Mulvey 110 Glenmora Ct. Conroe, TX 77385 I will inform Gunbroker of the sale, but need a quick reply from you to proceed. Many thanks, Denny

The guy has 100% positive feedback on 61 transactions on Gunbroker, and he is telling the truth about not being able to lower the reserve price while the auction is in progress. Also, it's against Gunbroker rules to do a "side deal" and it looks like he's just trying to follow the rules, which he also explained in the message, and that indicates to me that he's a pretty honest guy.

That is the re listed auction we worked out a deal by email for me to buy it
he then re listed the auction and said he would take the auction down when he received payment.

The message says he's waiting for your confirmation of the shipping charge before taking the auction down. Have you done that yet? Doesn't cost you anything to send the message.

Sometimes deals made offline can get confused. A lot easier to do it online through the auction itself.

this was his response to my email telling him i would take it

It doesn't seem sinister to me, considering his trader rating and all. I'd do the deal if it were me, but it's your call. :)

I can see 100% where the seller is coming from. I would do the same......how many people here mark their EE ads "Sold, please delete" before actually seeing payment. I sure don't....esp. if it's some newbie saying "OK I'll buy it"

Quit being so paranoid and buy the gun if you want it.....I don't think its the seller that's being unreasonable ;)
