Tried out the Kents Steel target ammo

I like Kent shells, they cycle better through my gun than Federals or Winchesters. The cost a little more, around $4-5 a box more at our little gunshop. They also kick a little more.

I've got a couple of cases in my safe. One case is Kent 1 1/8 oz. all purpose diamond shot, game and target shells and the other is Kent 1 oz. High Velocity diamond shot sporting clay shells. Called Diamond shot, but none the less lead.
I'm not sure what you are asking, but it sounds like you doubted Kent had lead target shells.

No Sir! Bought a flat years ago in the U.S. Kent 1 1/8 oz "Velocity" target loads ... #7 1/2 shot. Absolutely crushed crows with those target loads. Must have been the hard diamond shot and increased velocity but I dropped many graveyard dead at 50 yards plus. Could never find any for sale in the Winnipeg area though. Would buy these shells at drop of a hat any day.:)

If you have a couple flats your a lucky man!

Kent does have a nice selection of lead target shells. I get mine as a part of a larger group purchase. Alberta ranges are littered with Kent target hulls. I have been sworn to secrecy and can not give out more details.:)

Hi Guys!

I'm getting set up to shoot clays out at my rural vacation property and would love to buy 6 or 7 flats of the kent steel target shells....where in Alberta can a guy get them?

Thanks!

Brobee

They appear not to want to get political.

Yeah, they want to put their heads in the sand like the rest of our politians!
And just to make mention, one of my local gun shops, where i deal regularly, shipped out early spring $40,000.00 dollars worth of lead shotshells,to a northern Ontario community, for the spring goose migration.

DU's core business is the preservation and conservation or wetlands. They strive to stick to their mandate... and typically take an apolitical position. Yes, they supported the steel shot legislation, when asked to state their position on it some years ago, ... as an effective conservation measure to help prevent the needless die-off of waterfowl due to lead shot ingestion.

Your question, as to why the use of lead shot is tolerated for use by some, as opposed to everyone, is a question better directed to the Federal government ... not DU. But by all means, write to the Executive Vice-President of DU Canada ... I'm sure you'll receive a written response that clarifies their position ... and responds to your question. See if your local MP provides as good an answer to the same question. ;)
