I was shooting 9mm NATO rounds out of ym M&P a few days ago and notice that they were not very accurate rounds....even when I moved up to 15 feet. I do not think this was cause by "me" as I was on target and just fine with the other rounds I was shooting. Anyone else ever had this happen?

'9 mm NATO' is 9mm ammunition made by one of the NATO countries. Lots of countries made the ammunition. If you have it, it is likely because it is surplus. Which means they had lots of it, or it was a bit substandard. The accuracy requirements of the countries varied and so is the accuracy of the cartridges.
You haven't said who makes it and old it is.

No clue on either.....there were in a yogurt container in my buddies basement, I know its NATO from the mark on the head stamp but thats about it. I have heard a few people claim they are "unsafe" to use in most guns. This true?

In the early-mid 1990's I fired probably 5000 IVI NATO 9mm rounds throught a Glock 17 without any ill effects. They're a little hotter than most commercial rounds but won't damage a good quality pistol. Maybe these ones were froma rejected batch? How did they look -- are the seating depths consistent and cases in good shapes?

Well I "borrowed" them from a OPP buddy who is the biggest gun nut I know and doesn't keep poor ammo in his house. The ammo looked just fine but I will take a picture of it. I am kinda paranoid now that I could have cause my gun some harm....I fired about 40-50 rounds of it

NATO spec. 9mm ammunition is intended for, and used in, 9mm pistols. It is not going to harm any modern 9mm pistol.

nothing to worry about....the m&p is a tough little pistol, i believe its good for +p ammo, so i would not worry about the hotter tendency of military rounds. As far as accuracy, ah well, just dont shoot those ones anymore...find rounds that your gun likes and stick with them

Maybe you were just having an off day. lol

I was hungover as hell last Saturday and was shooting everywhere but the middle of the target. Should have showed a little more restraint the night before. Same ammo as I was shooting great with the week before.

Yea that might be it. I have fired about 350 rounds out of it from 114gr, 124gr, 147gr, hollow points and from 4 different manufactors and a buddies reloads. So far 124gr seem to be the best bullet weight and Brass Blazzers the best for accuracy. I need to buy a few different brands of 124gr and do some grouping tests. Do I test my groups only from one distance or should I do groups on target close, medium and far away?
