Tactical Rifle 1 Course

Having done the Service Rifle CQB match on Saturday, and confirming that my carbine handling skills, shall we say, barely passed muster...I have signed up for this course.
I had used a pretty simple chest rig, and again, found that it was less than intuitive during 'sprightly' magazine changes...
I had also used Pmags and, to my dismay, found that not all of them dropped free while 'under the gun'...despite having tried them all out prior to the match.
Having thought about it a little bit since then, I guess I'll start a new thread and see what our esteemed board members have to offer in the way of (helpful?) suggestions.

Foxbat, we can help you with your handling skills and we'll bring up your speed. As for the P mags... I'd have to take a good look at your rifle and mags to see what the problem may be.

Someone here might have experienced something similar.

I'm looking forward to this...
I'm running my 10.5" LMT which has only a couple of hundred rounds through it, complete with iron sights and co-witnessed Aimpoint Micro.
I'm open for suggestion re: vest/chest rig etc., and was perusing the products on one shot tactical..something like the TAG Gladiator perhaps?

The Gladiator is a good rig. I'd go with it or even the Blue Force 10 Speed chest rig. I run a battle belt for competition stuff and a CIRAS for LEO/MIL training. It's a bit heavy for competition.

We'll work on your skills with your gear so that your confidence and ability increases.

do you guys run with 5/30 mags or LAR10 mags?

I'm interested but never done any sort of course before. If my CIRAS comes in in time and there are still spots left I might sign up.

What's the base skill level required? lol I have none.

Allan!

Hi Allan, you would be fine with either 5/30's or the LAR mags. Our courses are designed around various semi-auto rifle platforms and we can teach to your level. Competitive rifle 1 is a good starting point and the drills that you encounter that day will be progressive so we won't throw anything at you that you can't do. We stress safety and our focus is on proper technique.

You won't actually need a CIRAS for the course a chest or belt rig would work just fine. I don't normally wear my armour on these type of courses.

The Tac Rifle 1 Course was excellent, and I reccomend these courses to anyone interested in improving their skills. I'll be attending all of them. Tritium is a good instructor.
