Who doesn't use a mildot for long range?

I am curious as to who isn't using a mildot reticle for long range shooting? (Out past 500m). Anybody using a standard duplex?

I do not use Mildot and would never consider a standard duplex reticle for long range shooting.
The Mil system be it mildot or lines with mil spacing is too large a unit of measure for me.
The dots take up too much of the target area to see precisely where my bullets want to go, and with 1/10 mil being .360" more or less at true long range the adjsutments are too big for my liking. All of my scopes are MOA reticle with .250 moa adjustments, but as soon as NF ships up the 1/8th moa turreted scopes I have ordered I will be ALOT happier as the increments will be 50% smaller hence easier to make very precise adjustments.

Not sure as I have yet to get a complete answer as to when the scopes offered with 1/8th turrets will be available.
My understanding is that it would be a major conversion as the entire turret assembly and part of the main tube is different. I will inquire of NF again.

I have a Leupold M3A with a mildot reticle. Love it. Takes some practice but it is great.

I've got a mildot on my 308, a TMR on my 223 and an NP-R1 on my 300WM. I like the finer reticles as they don't obscure so much target.

mil dots are popular because they were the original, go with a moa reticle,as rick pointed out...more precise. besides most scopes have min turrets, only makes sense that the turret would match the reticle

I hate mildots. Way too cluttered and large. I shoot at known distances or use a rangefinder, and I love very fine reticles with tiny floating target dots

I use a Nightforce 5.5-22x56 with the NP-R1 reticle (MOA reticle). For ranging I use a rangefinder (Leica CRF 1200 - waterproof with spare batteries so I won't be left hanging).

I have some rifles with Mil Dot and some with a fine crosshair or a fine cross hair with dot.

Do not like the MilDot. Too coarse.

I like fine cross hair and also like the Nikon BDC - its is fairly fine on the zero and the gradients are 2 moa open circles - eye naturally centers target in the center of the circle and nothing obscures it (or can use top or bottom of inside of circle).

That said, I do not compete in long distance shooting and my preference may be inappropriate to that purpose.
