EOTech HWS Ballistics Question

Hey everyone,

I'd like to get a black rifle soon, but I'm not dead set on the model, it could be a 5.56, or a 7.62, but it doesn't matter right now, because I can't afford it anyway.

What I can afford though, is an EOTech HWS, and I figure having the sight I want will motivate me to save up more quickly for the rifle I want to put it on.

I compared the various models on their website, but one thing wasn't entirely clear to me....

One model is listed as "Ballistic drop compensated reticle for .308 caliber", and there are also other calibre specific ones. At first, I just assumed that those that weren't specified were for standard 5.56 rifles, but then I noticed that there's a model that's "Ballistic reticle specific to .223 caliber munitions".

So, the ones that don't specify a calibre, are they good for 5.56 and 7.62? If so, what's the advantage of getting one specific to the calibre?

Thanks for your help.

The calibre specific models have a multi dot reticle which is calibrated for a specific calibre and I suspect a standard military weight/velocity round. For the standard 65 MOA ring with dot and the newer centre dot only models, they'll work for anything you bolt it to..

Perfect, thanks for the info!

Now to see if the seller will ship to Canada, because their price is a good $100 cheaper than anything I've seen around here....

To be legal under U. S. law, the exporter must be registered with the U.S. Department of State.

If you would like to have warranty coverage for your EOTech, you'd best buy it from a legitimate Canadian source, like TSE or Wolverine.

Well that sucks, I guess I'll be paying a lot more than the $430 this seller has them listed for. Boo.

Maybe I'll pick up a used one on the EE for way more than a new one would cost me from the States.

Bitter? Yes I am.

Well, the guy says he can ship, and while the shipping isn't cheap, it's still coming to under $500. Let's see how this plays out....
