Anyone know of a good place to currently buy a good quality M-14 mount? I want everything ready for when the new Norinco's come in from Marstar, so I guess now would be the time to buy a good mount. Also, I know that ARMS 18 is supposed to be one of the best mounts out there, but I am having a hard time finding them brand new. Are they pretty much still the best bang for the buck when it comes to a decent M 14 mount? Sorry, I know this post has been asked a hundred times, but I have searched the sticky's and did a Search, with no solid answers.

google ARMS 18 and order direct my friend....... i just received a large order of replacement ARMS side mount bolts, took 10 days. ARMS 18 has the export paperwork intact and can ship to you hassle free ;) while i do suggest dealing with a CGN sponsor/dealer , often they can be sold out of the m14 crack. I also believe in supporting U.S. parts makers who see Canadians as a market worthy of serving. ;)

To avoid buying multiple sets of rings I would wait until you have your scope and mount chosen so you can see what actually clears. Also I would recommend a sadlack mount, the arms 18 mount seem to have jamming issues on Chinese m14's, the cure for this isn't worth the hassle. Again search arms and jamming. With rings as long as you don't go to cheap you should be ok. I'm using arms 22 rings. Leupolds are nice too. Fabsports will usually have a Sadlack mount and Wolverine carries Arms stuff. Also read the sticky on M14 scope mount if you haven't already.

IF you use an ARMS18 mount, make sure you replace the extractor and ejector springs with USGI parts or you will posibly get jams/stovepipes.

I like the ARMS mount and that is what I use personally.

The other good/best receiver mounts are the Sadlak mount (you can buy it from FAB Sports) and the Smith Enterprises mount, which is similar to the Sadlak, though I don't think anyone in Canada sells it and SEI isn;t exporting to individuals last I checked.

For ARMS dealers in Canada, I know of Wolverine, TSE and P&D Ent.

In all honesty, the springs are the WORST thing on the Chinese M14 and I would replace them regardless of the mount I was using.

The Chinese ones ARE that bad ;)

Its too bad someone did'nt sell a Chinese M-14 upgrade kit with the 6 or 7 upgrades that everyone suggests doing as soon as you buy these Norinco's. I am going to have to get a list, oh brother.

Depends how far you want to go with it. Like Claven says, replacing the bolt springs is a good idea. You can get them from 762mmfirearms, just order online it works. If you're going to do that, ya might as well get: ejector spring and pin, extractor spring and bearing, extractor, chrome firing pin. Also get an NM spring guide from marstar. After that send that rifle to M14 doc, he will go over it from buttplate to flash supp and tune it up nice for you. That is the minimum I would do to a norc. A nice usgi glass stock is also a very good upgrade.

so an extra 100 bucks plus what M14 doc would charge to get a good working M14??
also is there any issue with ordering these parts from the states?? (762mmfirearms)

many of these rifles perform just fine without my services hehehe
but i'm here for those wanting to get that extra reliabilty and performance that my customer's have come to know in the rifles i've worked on. ;)
though my bench is closed to new bookings for at least another month

Is all of these upgrades necessary for the average joe that is only going to target shoot with his rifle about 4 times a year, and take it on the occasionaly hunt?

I can understand the ejection upgrades, so the rifle does'nt jam, when a scope is mounted, but I am not looking for match grade performance. Hopefully this new batch of M305 Norinco's that comes in at Marstar in June are of better quality than ones previously.
