I know there is a knives section, but I figured most of the militaria guys hang out here.

My dad bought this thing from a militaria dealer years ago, but until recently I've been in the dark about its origins.

I've been able to figure out that its an SA dagger, but apart from that information seems pretty sparse.

I've taken pictures of every marking on it I could find, and I was hoping that someone could maybe tell me a bit more about what they say. Year, maybe unit, approximate value etc.

Thanks in advance,

TOScout.

It's made by Herder obviously and the engraving is "All For Germany".Hard to tell if it's been sharpened hopefully not.Looks like nickle hilt/handguard which is good......Harold

I did some poking around and the stamp on the crossguard may provide a rough date, as well as unit of issue. According to this site they were only stamped between 1933-1935 as acceptance markings by the unit of issue. From the picture I believe it may be an Nrh which is the Neiderrhein unit. - http://germandressdaggers.com/SA standard.htm

The manufacturer F. Herder. A. S. stands for Friedr. Herder Abr. Sohn. - http://www.herder-solingen.de/

Other than that I'm not really able to find much. Hope it's helpful!

Thank you very much!

That's an interesting bit of history then, as it was likely issued before the Night of Long Knives.

Wow. Definitely worth a bit!

It's not for sale, my father is far too much of a pack rat for that :D
