Two things in play here: it is slightly larger diameter, and much shorter because it is a round nose.

I guess I should slug both rifles but haven't done so yet:redface:. With the improvement in accuracy I get from bullets measuring 0.312" compared to what I get from those measuring 0.311", there is an item I'd like to get my hands on. In my reloading room I have a number of old bullet display boards as part of the room decor, one of which was put out by Speer. On it there is a bullet listed for the 7.65mm, 175grs and measuring 0.313". I'd like to try them but don't see them listed in the 13th edition of the Speer reloading Manual so I gather it's an item no longer available. Anyone have some they'd like to part with;)??

They are no longer available from Speer. I shot many, many, hundreds of them in Lee Enfields over the years. They were accurate and performed well on game.

Thanks Ted. I'll keep my fingers crossed ;)that someone may have some they are willing to part with. I get virtually all my cast bullet supplies from a friend locally. I like reloading and testing but one aspect I have little interest in is casting although when I started, I used to do all my own. One of the bullets he supplies me with is a 185grGC that is sized to 0.312". I have an article supplied to me by a fairly recently departed friend and fellow shooting enthusiast, hs4570, that I've tried out and the results are on the positive side. The hard copy I've scanned and printed out is from a 1986 issue of the Handloader. 'Patching Cast Bullets with Teflon' by Curtis L. Wilson and the teflon used is basically that in a tape form used by plumbers and pipe fitters. Again, there were noticeable improvements in accuracy of patched bullets, which I'm guessing is because of the increased diameter. An interesting article none the less and the main reason behind me wanting to try the Speerr bullets I've made mention of..

Thanks for the offer Ted:). If I have a 'generous' supply of any bullet for the 303Br. it is the Hornady 174gr RN. In addition, I also picked up four boxes of Woodleigh 215gr, so, for bullets of 0.312" diameter, I'm good:). In future, I would dearly like to try out some of the discontinued 175gr Speer 0.313". One day;) but thanks again for the kind offer.
