It's not well advertised on the Marstar sight, but they still have Breda M1 hammers and trigger/sears. Guess what? TRigger/sears and hammers from M1's are interchangeable with the M14, so you can get USGI-quality hammer/trigger into your Norinco/Poly trigger group for abut $70 ;)

just ordered my bits today, so they definitely have stock (hint-hint). Not sure how long that will last...?

Now if only I could get cheap USGI mag release buttons to replace the crappy one on my Poly with rough casting lines, etc. still on it. Easily the worst made part in the Norinco/Poly trigger group.

Yep, it's well known you can use Garand trigger bits in an M14 including hammer, trigger/sear, springs, plunger, plunger cover, hammer pin, trigger pin...

Breda makes fine Garands and parts. No worries about quality(and arguably the best).

Note that anytime you change the hammer and sear, you must check for engagement, safety and ensure that hammer properly contacts the bolt.

Exactly. What was news to me was that Marstar still has these parts available as they are fresh out of many M1 parts due to all the guys shooting M1's. With the glut of M14's in Canada, I'd have thought for sure the M14 guys would be snatching these up ever since Districorp stopped selling M1 parts...??

For obvious reasons, the hammer and trigger (and hammer spring) are the most obvious choices for replacement if you want to improve a chinese trigger group.

replacement trigger and hammer pins are also a good idea if using milspec hardness m1 garand or m14 trigger parts..... especially the trigger/sear pin... trust me .... I've found out the hard way hehehe

Well, I got my Marstar parts in the mail yesterday. I receipted a set of lightly used USGI hammer and trigger pins, a Breda hammer with not much wear on it and a virtually new beretta trigger/sear. Not sure if they are M1 garand or BM59 parts, but I suspect M1 garand since they are likely left over from the Danish imports about 10 years ago or so.

Anyhow, they dropped right in to my Poly M14 trigger group and function tested perfectly. I also installed a new Chrome-silicon USGI-pattern hammer spring. These changes alone, without any stoning whatsoever, DRAMATICALLY improved trigger pull and let-off. It's buttery smooth with a crisp break now as the used parts had already developped a nice smooth mating surface.

I recommend this upgrade to ANYONE looking to improve their Norinco or Polytech inexpensively. Two thumbs up!

Thank you, Claven. :)

Where on the site are they listed? I'm having trouble finding them...

Claven,

I'm going to order these parts, is it worth getting an M1 Garand hammer spring from Marstar? Would it likely be any better than the one in my Norinco now?

Thanks, Jeff.

Yes, even a worn USGI spring would probably be better than a Norinco one. Personally though, I use Chrome-Silicon springs made by Superior Shooting - guaranteed for 500,000 cycles. Get regular power, not the "plus power" ones like Wolf sells of you go that route.

nothing wrong with norinco hammer springs...... except they are often not the right length, generally longer and not ground to 90 at the ends or have burrs at the ends. I would replace the plunger tube itself before worrying about the norc spring as most chinese tubes have machining ridges throughout the inside of the tube.
I've been averaging about 2 trigger jobs a day for the past month and most chinese trigger groups can be tuned up very nicely. BUT if you have buggered parts, then these M1 garand ones are perfect. BIGGEST problem i have found with chinese trigger groups is the pin holes not being drilled at 90 to the frame. evidenced by pins walking out of the trigger group when functon testing the trigger group on the bench out of the rifle. Will be nice when we can readily get usgi spec housings from 7.62firearms.

The other not-mentioned issue with the Chinese trigger groups is the mag latch pin is 4mm and not imperial like the GI ones, so you need to buy a special size pin and mag latch if you replace them.

The Poly group I nhave now (2009) seems equal to my GI HRN group apart from the softer and more roughly machined hammer and trigger (now replaced with GI). The cast mag catch is on the list of things to get changed. The park isn;t very well done, but that can be fixed.

The spring guide tube on mine is just fine??
