wanna cheap 308 precision rifle?

Sportcos. They're ugly, they're yucky to use (poor primary extraction), they're clunky, they look like a single shot Cooey, they are cheap.

And the damn things *shoot*.....

(from the pictures it looks like it has the original 26" chrome-moly barrel. A fair question would be how many rounds are through it, and/or how rough it is in the throat area. Unless it is completely shot out though, it probably is a good deal, and probably is able to do what the guy says)

Yes good guns, but where do I get it drilled and tapped and what long range base fits it.
I bought one a few months ago and everytime I approach local gunsmiths about it there eyes glaze over and the start mumbling about adapters for the barrel and "sorry can't help".

You might not find an off-the-shelf base for it, but the action is a simple round shape, albeit a bit short. It's a bit short of space, but it ought to be a simple job to mount a base on it, for any workmanlike gunsmith.

W.r.t. the barrels, when the factory barrel gets shot out, you can have the old barrel (it has lug recesses as part of the barrel) removed, cut off the breech stube, and bore and thread that as an "adapter" for a new barrel to be screwed into. You want a good gunsmith or machinist to do this, it is straightforward precision lathe work.

Waayyy too much for that. I purchased one with an new extra barrel, and upgraded stock for $275.

If you pay any where near that, check your head.

Then you got a great deal. 5-600 for one in good shape with a base is not out of line at all. People passing up a good rifle in hopes of a $275 sweetheart deal should "check their head"

One Sportco, reincarnated. Shoots too.
