Well, that would damn near shut down the interweb.

OldHack if you don't know yet ...here on CGN site we are not so happy with your kind of addressing fellow members !
I'd suggest to think twice before you writing something...
I wouldn't say 'no' to a 1911 only forum either.

NAA.
Same here bro. The ###iest firearm ever made. In the future when your plasma rifle run out guys will still be reaching for their 1911s.

I didn't mean to say all old folk... Just a trend I have noticed at various ranges. I haven't met many people under the age of 40 that have a problem with Glocks. Sure some don't like them but they don't spew their utter hatred for them. My favourite was when one of the regulars at RDSSA asked me if they were giving away free boats when you buy a Glock. Is that supposed to be funny or something?
Forgive me but I wasn't aware that there was an "eternal conflict between the GLOCK and the 1911". The 1911 and the .45 will always be linked in history, but I'm sorry to say that the Glock and the 9mm don't enjoy that same connection. The G17 is a fine pistol to be sure, but it's only one in a very long list.
Glock's suck big time!!! Can't even hold up in the oven when I'm trying to parkerize the frame to a lovely OD green... Wrecked a perfectly good roasting pot as well. Never again!!!

It's Apples and Oranges. The 1911 is a Sherman Tank and the Glock is, well... Tuperware! Both have their usefulness but to say they're in conflict is ridiculous.

Let's see, since you used a historical reference how's this?
Sherman Tank, made in USA.
Glock, made in Austria.
Using your WWII era reference one could conclude that had the Austrian Glock been made in WWII Austria it would have been made in Germany essentially because Germany annexed Austria. It may have even been the first country because Hitler was Austrian. So I guess that leaves us comparing tanks to tanks. History proves the Sherman was junk but enough were mass produced to eventually overwhelm the far superior German/Austrian machines and guns they carried.
But a better comparison can be made today. Drop both pistols off a building. I bet the Glock still works and the 1911's slide won't even rack. Or just take any 1911 and subject it to Glocks' grueling durability tests.....'nuff said.![]()
If it survived ww2 im sure a 1911 is ok. Glocks on the other hand from 1st gen are still blowing up in ranges everywhere lol. You see many 20 yr old glocks for sale out there? At The Shooting Edge (my club) they use Glocks as rentals as well as others. the glocks are garbaged in about 3-4 months (granted thats about 50,000 rounds of use) but they still have the same stainless sig from 9 years ago, an 11 yr old kimber custom, a beretta m9. Apparently according to them the Glock frames crack after 40-50k rounds. So there is a fact for you rather than something you read on google or watched on you tube.
