Well just getting back into the shooting sports a couple of weeks ago. First day with Glock 17 went very well. Today I took my wife out with the Glock 17 and my Glock 22(never fired) and a Ruger Marklll target. Just wanted to get my wife back shooting and I wanted to try the Glock 22. I have several types of ammo in 40 S&W but only brought 1 box of Fiocchi 180 Gr FMJ plus some Federal for the 9mm and CCI for the 22lr. Well the first shot in the Glock 22 jammed, got that sorted out and it jammed again. Only fired 4 shots out of it and put it away. I was a little dissappointed.
The rest of the shoot went well with the 17 and Mk lll. Any ideas on the Glock 22? I think it may be bullet shape. The 17 shoots round nose bullets with no problems.
My other 40 S&W ammo is Remmington UMC 180 and Blaser 165 FMJ, neither of these is round nose. Any others have this problem or suggestions.
Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers Ross

Were you limp wristing?

should look at flinching (recoil anticipation). i own several glocks, many G22's and flinching is the most common reason as why someone has problems with what can be seen as ''jams''....or you got it NIB and didn't removed the RED paste covering some parts and reoiling after decuplating the effect of just a lill flinch....otherwise i highly doubt the ammo is guilty ....i used every ammo imaginable excepting cherries, and all of my glocks function flawlessly all the time.

I assume when you say "jam" you mean, failure to feed or stovepipe. In this case, i will say "limp wristing" is the most probable cause. Glock pistols are designed for combat and have a very loose chamber, it should chamber any commercial rounds without any problem. Like other said, have an other Glock owner shoot it and see if the problem still there.

"limp wristing"

"limp wristing" try it again and hold that G tight like a firm hand shake. Try a firm two hand hold.
Please get back to us!

I'm from the school of thought that a pistol should work 100% even when limp wrist-ed (it's a combat pistol).

I'd clean the gun thoroughly, as well as the mags and try again :)

You could also try storing the gun with the slide locked back to aid in breaking in the recoil spring.

The school of thought that all guns should work with a limp-wrister is closed due to lack of enrollment. It's not difficult to lock your wrists. It's basic to semi-auto shooting. I don't mean to insult anyone. I was a beginner shooter, too. The fact is that beginner shooters tend to blame the equipment. Over time, as their skills increase, and as they get constructive criticism from more experienced shooters, they find that they are competent with any pistol they pick up.

To the post above on "removing the red paste" on aglock, that is factory copper lube, is it not? That's supposed to be there. Can someone who knows for certain confirm or deny this?

I believes Glocks generally like round nose, and may have problems with other types.

Have you ever owner or shot a Glock?

Seriously, a Glock will feed any type of bullet design.

I have a Glock 22 that I have tried 33 different rounds it, from hollowpoints to FMJ, all no problems at all. Same as a G17, have about 40 different loads including 23 hollowpoint designs go through it without a hiccup.

I would go with limp wristing or a bad mag.

That's exactly what it is and every Glock I've fired functioned without ANY issue with the copper lubrication on. In fact you can purchase it from Glock. I don't use it as a lubrication however, I was told to keep it on my Glock until it came off on it's own/has eventually been removed from the periodic cleaning that I do to my Glock 22.

p.s. I've never had an issue with any kind of ammunition on my Glock and I don't exclusively fire anything, I mix it up regularly.

Here's my .02 cents worth....I won't say limp wristing because the OP has experience shooting Glocks but I'd look at the extractor area's cleanliness (maybe some lube is gummed up in there) and then try some different magazines. As stated earlier, it's really hard to say because of the lack of information on the type of "jam"....
