Ok well I guess that im now in a dilema about whether or not I should keep the tavor or sell it and get a sr-15.

I like the tavor and all but it just feels awkward with the bullpup design and just to top it off, im a lefty. I've been seriously thinking of getting something of a more conventional platform and I've had my eye on the sr-15 for quite a while.

Any thoughts??

Tavors are cool thats for sure, but $$$$$ - not positive exactly but you could get the KAC plus a nice ammo stock for the same, (or a really decked out rifle right?).
I had the same personal debate. I've got my eye on a couple RRA's now, and the MP15's.

Choices

There's a sticky that shows you how to switch your Tavor to left handed. Not hard at all. Failing that you should get your hands on an SR, see how it feels. You could still get a good $ for your Tavor, put it on the EE, sell er' up and buy an SR. It's all about preference. If you have doubts about your Tavor now, you always will. I love my Tavor way more than my AR's, but I'm a righty. Follow your heart dude, make yourself happy. Good luck.

Lefty here.

You will very much appreciate the Knight's features. Best AR going, and a hell of a lot more accurate than a Tavor.

Not wanting to flame anyone, but my Tavor is capable of great accuracy... It's comparable to my old Colt Target, and the ZM I used at the end of Pudding Ridge Road...

Tavor at 100m with an EoTech (no magnifier)....

I think any accuracy issues with the Tavor are a result of the heavy trigger, and the fact that you are pulling that trigger closer to the muzzle as a result of the bullpup design. Therefore, any issues with trigger manipulation, jerking etc, are amplified by the firer being closer to the muzzle. Just my thoughts. Any opinion on this theory, or are some Tavor's just more inherently accurate than others?

Not just more accurate. The HMI of most ARs is waaaay better then the tavor. At least then the couple I have played with. While The Tavor seems accurate, the trigger is very heavy, making anything but benched shots just that much more difficult.

I thoroughly hate restricteds. Especially rifles. I'd take the SR over the Tavor unless I needed a 223 rifle that was not restricted, in which case, I'd get another classic G.

I dunno, a buddy of mine is pretty damned accurate with his Tavor and he has the stock mepro-light sunlight washout sight on it. He makes the hits on a standard 19" wide x 30" tall target at 130m without too much trouble.

He zapped an obscured target I talked him onto at 150m without any problem...

The Israelis seem to dig it...

:D

I would also like to make sure the Tavor does not get a rep for poor accuracy... my best load shoots roughly 1.30" at 100 yards, and I have only tried 69 and 77gr SMKs.

 14.6 MOA = "pretty damed accurate"? Different standards I guess. :p My cheap(ish) ArmaLite M15-A2 shot 1/10 that size with irons... and I'm a mediocre shot at best.

OK, that's more like it - I'll keep my big yap shut now...:p

KAC is nice as an AR can get, but it is still bound by the restricted classification, you already have the Tavor that you can take it out for a walk ;)

Could you explain the difference please?

Well, if I have to carry a lot of stuff, walk around a lot, talk on the radio/navigate, jump out from vehicle/plane and do the infantry stuff, the compact size of TAVOR is great.

On the other hand, I will pick the AR family/SR15 if I am going in just to shoot stuff - fast manipulation and fast shooting. Mounting optics and accessories is much easier and flexible.
