in the lower priced 1911s ,which one is a better buy a norinco or a regent 1911
and will a kimber 22 conversion kit work on both

This site shows a photo of a Kimber kit on a Norc .. Looks pretty good and Roger is great to deal with. You could by both the Norc and the conversion kit from him. Ask about a discount for EMT payment .. you never know it might work.

Good luck.

Regent is related new brand in the market, for the same price range, you should go for a Rock Island instead. Base on the review on the net, Rock Island is very good quailty at a low price. But for the price of a Rock Island, you can get a .22 kit with a Nor.

The Regent is a good pistol but before you buy, fondle one. The reason being, the grip is a bit blocky and may not suit every shooter.

As it happens I just got to shoot a Regent last night. The overall look and feel was good for a GI clone other than the really cheezy plastic grips that would have to go right away. What really surprised me is how well it shot. At 12 yards I immediately did a 3 inch group with the majority within a 2 inch circle. This is the sort of group that I only normally get from my beloved S&W revolvers. So there's no doubt that the gun can shoot well. From a looks standpoint it seemed to be Parkerized thanks to the rather dull black finish. A good point though was that the rollmarks were so shallow that almost any dressing up of the slide during prep for a new finish would be easy to remove the Regent markings.

I didn't find the grip blocky by any means. It was a standard single stack frame with nicely rounded fore and back straps. Maybe the grips didn't agree with tekarra since the edges of the plastic panels WERE a little abrupt. But the mandatory swapping to some nicer grips would take care of that little factor.

thanks for the shooters choice site that norinco stainless and the 22 kit look great and fit the budget seeing i just bought a beretta 90-two in 9mm and a sks last week so i would like to keep it below a $1000
then thats it for guns this year
