Go with the CZ, beautiful shooting gun, easier to find accesories and mags.

Why do threads in this fourum always get hijacked by some hollier than thou fool who gets, stuck on an irrelevant point. The guy asked for advise on guns, not a diatribe on his living arrangements or relationship with his folks. Go play lawyer, cop, relationship coach somewhere else.

read the poll - the third option was "neither".

If you have the cash, and already have a gun for IDPA and ISPC, I would try the Trijan. I did not really have a good 9mm double stack that I wanted to compete with in IDPA or at NSCC so I got a Shadow. I like a 1911 frame, but I really like my Shadow too; I have a set of light weight grips coming to make it IDPA SSF legal.

Some adive on the cash thing; I know you do not want to hear it, but I have gone through university with not a cent to my name when I was done....and I was a lucky one. If money is KNOWN to be free flowing and it will not be a problem, go for the new gun. If you are not 100% sure, you may want to put the money to the side and wait until later on in the shcool year; if something happens it would be nice to have the money available. I have a friedn that always bought new guns in the fall when we got back to school and then was trying to sell them at the end because he did not have money to eat; he is around here somewhere :). Trying not to be a troll, but thought you may want to hear from someone that was in your shoes at one time.

sorry, was busy shooting today. shot a CZ 75. hated it. good luck with it!

btw, i think you're an idiot for being 18, having 16 firearms since you were 12, and now being in a position that you can only afford one, plus your parents need to give you permission, plus you've admitted to secretly stashing others without their consent. not sure if you're breaking any laws, but you're certainly not planning ahead for life at your stage.

enjoy your CZ!

Christ who stuck the pickle up your butt today?

+3 on the Sig226.

Sell your CZ :p

PB7. I think that when the OP starts a thread in the "off topics" about if he should move out or not you would be welcome to chim in, untill then let's keep it on topic so it doesn't get nuked.

the firearms have been purchased and given to me by with the full consent and knowledge of my parents the issue is only with handguns as my mom feels strongly about them and only wanted one in the house. And the reason i can only afford one is because i am planning for later on in life you know the whole having a summer job to pay for university thing :) some might call that being responsible but hey what do i now. I think your issue might be that your in your mid thirties and have only now gotten into firearms and your just a taaaad jealous that someone much younger then you is able to afford (because of working hard since he was 10 years old) much nicer things then you can, green really isnt your colour. so if your done with the personal attacks feel free to crawl back under which ever bridge you snuck out of.

I see that I got in too late, but you should definitely work on that sweet 1911 you were teasing with. Restore it to an original-type configuration, and enjoy shooting a classic.

i don't get jealous over other people's stash. really, i couldn't care less. and if i wanted to i could afford a DE 44 on monday. i've been through all sorts of hobbies and collections, so i know how much it can cost to build up inventory of whatever it is anyone is into. vintage vacuum tubes go for $50 to $200 a pop, camera lenses and guitars are 10 times as much, racing chews up inordinate amounts of G.T.O. (gas, tires, oil) - and i've been through plenty of all of that. can YOU afford to drop $18k to build yourself a big-block V8 motor as part of a $50k car build? have you ever sold enough stocks to have a $13k income tax bill due to capital gains? no? then have-a-Coke-and-a-smile-and-STFU.

the issue i see with your situation is that the timing is a bit off - having to live on your own suddenly and pay for univ / rent / insurance / transport / etc. it's gonna add up in a hurry, even with roomies to help you foot the bill(s). might not be the ideal time to buy a handgun. and if you're about to brag that you actually ARE liquid enough to afford it, then the whole question of "which one should i buy cuz i can only buy one" wouldn't come up in the first place.

btw - ottawa is not known for cheap housing, or cheap transport, or cheap anything. it's a government town and that tends to cast a "there's enough money here" buffer that prevents things from coming down in price.

Summer purchase.... Instread of a Trojan... I'd go one of the STI Spartan 9mm's from Armco and spend the savings on 9mm ammo.....
