Looking to buy a used shotgun for trap shooting. Any tips on what to purchase? Or what I should be looking for? I need a good entry level gun. I have never been trap shooting but have a few friends that do it. If anyone has one for sale let me know as well. Thanks.

As always budget plays a major factor. I would go with the Krieghoff myself, if money was no object.
Doubles? Hard to beat an over/under. Semi's are good too.
Starting out, I could go with the 870 28" barrel. Can use it for everything and they are under 400 bucks

I'd get a trap gun that will allow shooting doubles, the most fun part of trap shooting, a good used Beretta o/u trap gun, or citori trap version, a Trap version of the beretta semi, or even rem. 1100/1187. Sorry if i keep saying "Trap version" but if you like Trap enough, don't settle for a field stock, get a proper stocked trap gun, or you will forever be second guessing your purchase.
Instead of buying the gun before you have tried the game, why not buy a case of cheap shells and go out with one of your buddies who will let you shoot his gun? By the time you have shot through the case you will know if you want to buy the gun or not.
I shot my first 25 with a very rough 870 Express, then used a field model 11/87 for years and now have an 1100 Classic Trap, which I love. I have shot lots of 25s with them all.
Lots of my buddies shoot BT99.
I agree with Ben. If you do buy a gun, buy a trap model.

for the record I have an 1100, a 1500, 870, nova, mag 10, a 100E .... (list of more here) and a browning BT-99. So I am not being biased!
There are things i like about all of them, but by far the best of the lot is the BT-99!
While only a single shot, it is such a fun gun to shoot! The trigger is perfect and the gun has amazing balance. On top of it all it has probably the best fit and finish my lot and the adjustable parts really help with setting up the gun for personal comfort.
As for shooting doubles... slight of hand pro?
jk I use the 100E or the 1100 for doubles, the 100E is a nice side by side with good sights you can find good used ones for a decent price. I agree with shooting a variety of guns before committing your cash, but in my opinion the BT-99 is one of the best buys for shooting clays on the market (period) its also a heap of fun.

Also holds resale value about the best in semiautos.
Look for something in a 12ga, full choke, with a 28" to 32" bbl for swinging on the clays. Try the Rem 870, 1100, Win model 12, or any Beretta. Borrow your friends' guns for a few rounds, and get youself started.
Trap is a very good sport, and it introduces you to many new friends and weekends of fun. Have at it and enjoy
Never been trap shooting? How about going out and give it a try a few times and then start looking? Lots of good choices for an entry level trap gun. If you go out with a good bunch, you will probably meet many and have lots of oportunity to try a few guns.
That's the best advice so far. You can learn the game with just about any gun and then decide what suits you best.

...that would raise a few eyes at the club. As stated if you have never shot trap before just grab any 12 or 20 and give it a try. You will likely enjoy but then again trap might not be your thing.
Can also purchase an inexpensive hand thrower and a box of clays. Head out to your local gravel pit and fire away. Less formal than a trap range and you can fire second shots at missed birds all ya want!
Benifit of shooting at a club is that many seasoned shooters will give you tips and correct bad shooting habits if you want the advice/coaching. Then I would advise going out and looking for a trap gun
