Just wondering if anyone has used the SKS-45/56 Steel 5/30 Round magazines that I see Ki11ercane selling? Are they reliable? I remember when I wanted a detachable magazine for my SKS ages ago everyone said to get an SKS-D because the duckbills were unreliable. Are these different?

TIA

I'm not sure if he is selling "USA" brand or not. I've had good luck with them and so have the majority (but not everyone) of other people that I've talked to. If you can handle the look of the 20 round TAPCO mags they will feed 100% once you remove the followers to ensure that there are no burrs on the plastic follower etc.

Personally I like the look of the 30's but many people don't have good things to say about them. You may need to tweek any of the 30 rounders to work in your particular rifle.

Good Luck

the problem with steel duck-bill mag are the lips are easily bent when loading the mag with the bolt forward, best to mod the bolt or get a SKS"D" bolt.

That's not a mag problem, that's a people problem.

no really cos you expect people to ram it in like all box mag, forgetting its a D so they shoulda made the lips stronger.

btw: i cant speak for the duck-bill mag sold by k1llercane.

They can be rammed in just not with the bolt closed.

The tapco plastic 20 round mags come with a warning not to insert them with the bolt closed, it's the same with all of them.
