I have been told that I cannot use this rifle in Canada to hunt predators? Is this true. It was told to me that because it is a M4/M16 version that I am not able to hunt with it. Can anyone set this story straight.

regards,

Comswim.

Yes, the R-15 is classified as restricted in Canada based on being a variant of the AR-15. The Henderson decision will hopefully be announced soon and may possibly put an end to much of this BS coming from the RCMP, but we are stuck with it for the moment.

Accept the R-15 is an AR-15 in almost every respect! It is just marketed as a hunting rifle! Remington bought Bushmaster and the R 15 is just a camoed AR.

If that is the case (I am not an AR guy, so don't know the details), then it will remain restricted even after a favourable Henderson verdict.

I bet the RCMP will use the term a variant of... and keep it a restricted category, or perhaps spend a few weeks on it in their lab/workshop and manage to make it a full auto and ban it like the Chinese QBZ-95 / 97.

It was close to eleven months, was it not? I can just see the guy standing in front of the judge - "well your honour, the rifle can easily be converted to full auto, you just put it in a 3 axis CAD milling machine and run this software - which took us eleven months to write - and any child can make it a full auto"
