marstars 2010 305 shipment

I think the situation is that Marstar bought up what, at the time, was the last of the receivers the Chinese had disclosed to them.

Since that time, for whatever reason, China "located" a whackload more receivers and are now selling them to a variety of importers. I do not believe Marstar made statements that they did not believe a couple years ago.

Interestingly, ALL these receivers (even the Polytechs) seem to have been made long ago, in the 1980's or early 1990's. They do not seem to be makign new ones.

I suspect that when Keng's (sp?) was exporting/importing these to the US, they had made a massive run of receivers, believing they would be supplying US enthusiats for years to come. I guess they did not see the 1994 AWB coming, nor Clinton's executive order that halted these importations. Who knows how many are left, but we have benefited greatly from the situation.

If china was still making new ones, they would cost mroe than they do. Even in China, labour rates have gone up and these receivers are actually forged and machine, not cast. This isn't a cheap way to make an M14receiver.

The new batch is supposed to be in next week, atleast according to their website. When I called in to place my order (#276 a few months ago) they told me that they won't me ready to be shipped out until the middle of the Month. From some of the things that I have read (wrote be John from Marstar), it sounds like these new rifles should be the best Chinese made M-14 knock offs ever.

If you go to the Marstar Section in the Forums here, they talk about them.

I'm sure lots of folks will be pleased, but personally, I just buy these for the barelled actions ;) the barelled actions are great and I often re-use part of the trigger group and gas system. I usually replace everything else anyhow...

Hey guys.

First post for me.

I have a place in line that is a little after 509 - so I don't know if I will be getting my M305b.

My question is this: where are you guys buying your 7.62x51mm?

the same place as 308 winchester- just respect the 170 grain limit- and it shoots better too-

one would suggest that you should "bone up" on your basic m14 and equivilents- espthe refernces to 308 winchester and the basic action- fm23-8, and read all you can BEFORE you get your rifle- there's a wealth of information on the net, different's book,( if it's still on line) zediker's loadings, etc- ie be fully prepared before you pull the trigger
