Can the Ruger SR-556c be non-restricted?

Not without an OIC. It's an AR variant - the lower is identical (as far as I know) to all other AR15's.

It will be restricted - barrel length will have nothing to do with this one.

Regardless of whether it's an AR or not, how is it that anyone here even expects a ~14.5" barreled rifle to be non-restricted?

Also, if the DOS won't even allow the ~16+" model to be exported, why would they allow the shorter model out?

I hope they come up here soon. I want a 5.56 to pling some gophers with. I am considering a bolt action, but if this jewell ever comes available up here... well.... :)

my personal opinion: Its a ruger, not a jewel.

As noted by others it is restricted and can not be used for gophers in Canada. But a Rob arms XCR would be ok though!

Yes I get the restricted part. But you have to admit, splatterfying gophers with it (if it were legal to do so) would be fun.

Just one point though. As a rancher we are allowed to have one firearm ready for use to defend against predation on our animals.... I wonder if this would still qualify if the rifle was restricted?

Somehow I seriously doubt it.
