Well i read a good percentage of the thread about all of the various opinions about this brand. And the only reason I bought one is because that was what my boy thinks he wants to shoot.

We are going to get together with Chris Mitchell from P&D, I understand he runs some kind of handgun course, probably very helpful for a complete newby like myself.

Another friend with a Dillon 1050 is going to load a bunch of ammo for us. He favours the 147gr slug. I have a pound of Bluedot powder and there is data for this combo in the Lyman manual.

Any tips you fellows would care to pass along would be appreciated. FS

only tips i've heard are load it and shoot it. evidently, many don't even bother cleaning it at first.

hmmmm....

i guess a tip would be to get used to the trigger....dry fire away....

field strip her....learn the gun.....standard stuff really......

Agreed. Pretty vague post FS...

If I have never owned a Handgun before............., perhaps you fellows might have a preferred bullet weight, or powder choice. Perhaps there is a mod that you think is beneficial, maybe there is a sight upgrade. Things like this.
Thanks

Mods i would do is put in a 3.5 conector. This will reduce a little weight on the trigger pull.I also would swap out the slide stop for a extended one.I find the stock one to small and hard to push down.Try and find some 10/17 mags for it as the regular 10/10 ones are hard to fill to the tenth rnd cause the spring is strong.Other than that do lots of shooting with it and have fun.:)

^ if my experience in other areas / hobbies / interests is any indication, keep it stock and basic for the time being and figure out what you love / hate about it before you start changing stuff around. the more you change, the less you focus on the actual thing itself (in this case, shooting), and you turn into a tweak-a-holic.

from the handful of Glocks that i've shot, the extended mag release is potentially nice, the stock slide release is ok, a lighter trigger is nice but the stock isn't bad by any stretch, and the factory basic sights are big and easy to use - though maybe a bit TOO big.

Leave it stock till YOU feel it has limitations then modify to your hearts content.

Glocks will feed just about anything under the 9mm sun. My personal favorite load for 9mm is 124gr with 6.0gr of power pistol under it.

Go shoot the heck out of it.

Glocks...

Once upon a time, I thought I'd hate Glocks.

Then circa 1995 I got a G22 .40 cal to shoot. Being used to the Colt 1911A1 .45ACP and the Beretta 92 series 9mm's I at first wasn't all that impressed.

Then I put a few thousand rounds down the pipe of that Glock & gained a whole new appreciation for them.

One "tip" I would suggest is master the "trigger reset". Do this & you will soon be putting rounds almost thru the same hole in the target.

Simply put, Glocks work.

My .02.......................
