I'm curious if anyone knows of any 30-06 based wildcats or standard cartridges based on the 30-06 family excepting AI's and those listed below.
So far I know of...

25-06
270
280/7mm express
30-06
8mm-06
338-06 A-Frame
35 Whelen
375 Whelen
400 Whelen

I think the only calibers missing are .264/6.5mm, .243/6mm, .224, .204, .17
Anyone know of -06 based cartridges in these sizes.
 
Sir Charles Ross made the .28-1906 (using a .287" bullet) in 1906, just before he got the .280 Ross designed. At the time, he was not able to reach the magic 3000 fps.
It is the earlier version of a "06 wildcat.

The 6.5-06 is more "common" in it's Ackley Improved version.
 
Yeti; Just start at .244/6mm and take every standard & metric calibre up to .400 - I would bet they have all been "tried" on an 06 case. John303.
 
9.3x62mm. Not based off the '06 case, but pretty damn close. It can be made from '06 brass.

Also, the .30 Gibbs is fairly similar...
 
And the 06 was based on the 8mm mauser.
The 308 was based off the 06. Just shortened to fit short actions.
Then 308--> 243, 7-08 ...etc & the list goes on!
 
Because they SAAMI'ed it first. Was a around a long time before that. All the Ackley 06 based wildcats, the Gibbs line, the RCBS 28 degree versions, the Hawk wildcats, some of Waters' stuff, etc, etc. Then just pick any bore diameter between 17 and 45 (that I know of) and neck up or down. - dan
 
There was a gentleman in the US who developed a whole line up of cartridges based on the 30-06 case. His name was Rocky Gibbs. Cartridges from .240 cal up to .338 cal.
I currently hunt with a .340 Gibbs. It aint a .338 Win Mag but it still topples moose like they have been hit with the hammer of Thor.
I am sure if you google search Gibbs cartridges you could get lots of info.

Thanks for the response guys I didn't realize how intertwined the -06 family is and it is interesting to see were some of these wildcats went. I definitely being doing some investigating.
