i had an old .30-30 break action savage, 26 in brl. but it burnt. Sorry no mod # nor ser no.
I need to date it and get a value on it.
It was priceless to me as it was in the family for several generations and i learned to hunt with it.

It was old and in great shape considering it was used to feed many people over the years.

Any estimates/guesses?

Also, i want to keep it as a wall hanger, so how can i disable it without too much destruction, just a legal show piece over the fireplace.

My first hunting rifle. model 219 savage, 30-30, made from some time in the 1930s to mid 60s. Break action, single shot. I saw one advertised here on the exchange for $300 a while ago.

Agreed!
Put an unobtrusive trigger lock on it and hang it on the wall. Done, read the display regs, totally legit, and you don't have to neuter the old workhorse.
See if any of those little hex key ones are available, talk to the local gun club and someone can probably help you find one!

burnt very badly, would love to find a stock and forarm for it and hang it up. Not sure the old pole could ever be safely fired again but i would like to think so.
Need an appraisal for the insurance company and i hope it would be worth more than a meesly $300.
I wouldn't sell what's left for that.

Sadly if they are burnt any temper in the steel will be gone, tollerances will be out of whack from expansion and contraction, all the springs will be strong as mechanics wire.

Do NOT shoot it. Keep it for what it is and get another replacement for hunting with.

Sorry to hear of your loss there, that sucks.

As they are no longer made and can't be easily replaced, just price out a new Ruger #1 and give them that figure...:)

When one of my family member's house burnt, the insurance replaced the lost firearms with brand new ones, didn't matter what the age or value of the lost ones were...

"...it burnt..." As in the stock got burned to total destruction? If so, it's no longer safe to shoot. Has no monetary value.
Single shot? If it's a Model 219(also came as a shotgun), Gunparts has some stocks. A forend runs $61.40US(not the same as the shotgun forend.). $70.40US for a plain hardwood butt stock.

"...disable it without too much destruction..." Take out the firing pin.
