Sage EBR stock for canadians?

$ 900 is a LOT of money to spend on a cheese grater for your M14.
You can probably buy two more used Chinese M14s for that price.

That being said,
our M14 cheese grater is still in the prototyping phase of the project.
We have spent THOUSANDS of dollars on the prototypes,
and expect to spend THOUSANDS more before we get to market with the best M14 cheese grater ...
ever.

And ours should be a LOT cheaper than the SAGE and the TROY.

great news...... but after spending thousand and thousands..... how can it be cheaper than sages or troys...... regardless it's a fantastic thing to see more and more canadians cooperating together and bringing very cool stuff to the table. I'm sure this one is going to be great.
got a troy, sage on the way..... will need one of these LTR stocks too one day hehehe

while I DO like some things about the SAGE,
and I do like some things about the TROY,
and I especially like a LOT of things about the AKM,
and really dislike the way the AKM attaches the hand guard,
as you very well know,
all of these cheese graters are less than perfect.

Some of them won't grate Mozzarrella,
some of them clog up with Cheddar,
especially if you leave the cheese out of the fridge too long and it gets all soft and mushy.

Perfecting the perfect M14 MuniMula cheese grater takes a LOT of R&D,
and throwing money into the black hole is [ until production ] a one way street.

But we are planning on amortising the R&D over an initial run of 100,
with sales mostly to the US,
where our cheese grater will be competing with the BIG NAME YANKEE CHEESES!!

We will be marketing on features,
the most features,
the best grating ability,
and the best balance, handling, and weight distribution.
NOT primarily marketing on price.
But,
we still expect our price to be considerably lower than any of the BIG CHEESES.

We may loose money on every stock we sell,
but we will make it up on volume!

While I like some of the things the AKM acocmplished, my biggest beefs with it are/were:

1) You have to undo a LOT of fasteners to get the rifle stripped for cleaning.
2) Unlike on the sage, wherever you have an oblique finish, the AKM CNC program opted for a ball cutter making a pass every 1/4" of cut. This left a LOT of semi-unfinished surfaces, particularly back by the pistol grip. It made the whole thing look/feel cheap. Sage gets around this by using a CNC rig with more axis and cuts the oblique surfaces by rotating either the cutter or the workpiece and milling a flat rather than "cheating" in the G-code by trying to blend ball cutter passes.
3) the stock is not in-line with the bore, not even close. I suspect this is to keep the factory irons, but frankly, I think the Troy system produces a more controllable shooting platform than either the Sage or AKM - though I wish the Troy used the Sage op-rod guide system rather than that adjustable gas cylinder ferrule system they've devised. The sage/AKM system is just plain better in this sense.
4) The AKM fell short by not providing cheap kydex hand protector like the Sage did. Having an under-rail is cool and all, but they didn't take into account the 90% of shooters who are not going to mount a VFG and would like a well thought our option for resting the forestock on the palm of the hand.
5) The AKM could have/should have added a simple tension adjustment system for the trigger group like the Troy has. Easy to do and helps fit rifles with slight variations in geometry.
 
I am anxious to see what the final design. If I can run with it the 500 meter run down or hike with it for several kilometers during the deer hunt, I might seriously consider picking one up. Although cool looking, the Sage or the the Troy are just too cumbersome and heavy. I hope you design is allot more user friendly than those two. Otherwise the Vltor or the original stock configuration is still the best out there IMHO.
 
I've had both the Sage EBR ALCS (870 style) and ALCS/CV (AR15 style).
In my opinion they are great as long range scoped rigs. Very accurate and stable.
I didn't mind carrying them around so that was irrelevant to me. A rifles weight is determined by how long you've been humping the f@%&er!
When taking it apart in the woods/field you have to be careful not to loose any small screws and dirt gets into the action through all the lightening cuts.
For my purpose of a regular battle rifle that has to hit what I aim at out to 500m usgi fiberglass was the best option for me and I sold both of the Sage stocks. They do have that SF coolness about them, that's for sure. I preferred the old 870 style over the lightened up AR type as that thing was one solid unit.

Laz, I been hearing about this new Stock, well show us some pictures! I want to know more, if it is better, hell ill buy yours, just show us some info. All I am hearing is talk.

I like the Ar15 but stock, and I like the ar15 pistol grip.
 
The folks at SAGE have been listening and a new stock in the works that will
accept a heavy barrel and they also have a prototype that uses the Magpul
PRS made for the G3. It may end up being a factory folding butt stock :)


The prototype is pictured near the very end of the video posted above.
 
Just ordered mine....

Site says sold out I wonder if this means that Fabsports is still taking pre orders and will ship once they are available or whether they are no longer taking pre orders because all stocks are already spoken for.

Did any of you order dispite it being "sold out"

Did they also charge your CC yet?

I wanted to call them but they are closed till next week.
 
I don't know how many Fab Sports got, but the first import is only 50 and change units. Some were offered to dealers and buidlers out west first, so I know Fab Sports got something less than 50. Probably less than 20-30 units.

It's very likely they are sold out for real.
