I have a chance at getting a lightly used Ruger K77VTL MKII Target in 25-06. I was just wondering how well these were made. Any quirks to them? Thanks in advance.

Ruger M77's are fine rifles. Don't think the triggers are adjustable. Doing a trigger job isn't a big deal though. Ruger's MBAs and lawyers are terrified of frivolous law suits. Mind you they did get dinged by one several years ago.
The Target runs around a grand, here in Ontario. Not bad considering MSRP is $963US.
Look for the ammo, locally, first. Not impossible to find, but it won't be readily available in small places. Shouldn't be difficult to find in most places. Literally a necked down .30-06, just like the .270. It's a varmint/deer/antelope/elk/black bear cartridge with a change of bullet.

"...very sensible post..." Thanks. Four beers makes me incredibly profound. 6, absolutely brilliant, then it goes downhill to everybody but me. Have to edit my posts, a lot, before posting 'em too. snicker.

The 77 VT has an adjustable trigger. Terrific rifle, just a bit heavy to lug around. I have one is .308 and its a keeper.

Maybe he took it apart and forgot to do up the centre screw. Rugers use a 3-screw system which they feel gives them better accuracy. After what I've seen on a couple of rifle ranges, I'm not going to argue with them.

.25-'06 is truly a zippy cartridge and is terrific on pronghorn. It's easy to reload and generally likes 4831 or 4350 with Nosler BTs.

With the heavier weights you are okay for most bigger critters but I still think it's a bit light for Moooose, especially the big Northern Moose. Southern Moose just go "Mooo!" and it doesn't take a lot to kill them. Just get yourself gone before the owner shows up.

But then, I think that the .303 and the .577 Snider are the 2 best cartridges made!

One thing about that .25-'06: it does make nice little single-hole groups if you can hold it.

Do have fun with your new toy!
