Acquired A Unfired Sako Finnbear FullStock in 270Win.How about some scope suggestions

LEUPOLD VX3 2.5-8x36

If you're going to stick it in the closet for 20 years, you may as well sell it now and get something you can enjoy...

No Blargon,

It definately won't go in the closet. It will get used like any other gun i own.I personally don't see much point actually buying a gun i wouldn't use.Seems pointless to me.

You are right if that was the case it would make more sense to me to sell it and get something else.

I've never really understood the idea of saving up money(that's what i have to do anyways) to own a really nice rifle and then buying a cheaper one to hunt with.

I enjoy hunting with the one's i really like to much to do that.

If someone else likes to do that that's their right but it's not for me.

The Transmission went in my car so my scope fund got put on the back burner.Working on it again now.

I believe i have settled on a LEUPOLD VX3 2.5-8x36 or a VXII 3-9x33 or 2-7x33.

Hey Wookie,

I have no idea whatsoever how to get a pic of the gun on here.I can e-mail them to someone else just fine but i just don't know how to get them on here.

Thanks for the advice by the way on where to get hold of the replacement inserts for the optilok rings.I called Stoeger to ask about them and told them the one's i had were brittle and crumbled. They quoted me a price on them and took my info.I told them i didn't have a credit card on me at the time and i would have to phone back in at a later time.

Well i put it off and hadn't gotten around to doing it.So i was very surprised when i got a parcel on friday from Stoeger.

Brand new set of inserts in it and "No Charge" written on the invoice.I was very surprised and very impressed with Stoeger.

So thanks Stoeger and thanks for the advice Wookie.

Those are surely all good choices.
But for way less $$$ there is also the new series of Redfields made in America by Leupold with their full warranty serviced by Korth. I just bought a new 2x7x33 for around 170 bucks. Looks perfect on my short action Ruger and can be had with their accurange reticle for another $20 I believe. It's a dull matte finish. The optics seem good to me - http://redfield.com/

Hey Whelen,

I didn't know Leupold owned Redfield now.Do they own Weaver now as well? I don't know but i thought i read a while ago that Meade industries owned Weaver and Redfield.Did Leupold buy both or just Redfield?

Supercub,

I was actually considering that scope as well and think it would probably be pretty sharp looking on it but i think i want just a bit more magnification then that.Probably i don't actually need it but i would like it for the cuts.

I think i will probably go with the Leupold VX3 2.5-8x36.However if a really good buy came along i would probably be happy with any of the smaller Leupolds mentioned.

Thanks for the opinions everybody.

They only bought the Redfield name, nothing else...

A carbine looks right with a small/short scope. It would be hard to beat the Leupold 1.5x5 for this application.
Good advice once again - Supercub has it right.

The Leup 1x4x20 is very close in actual magnification to the 1.5x5x20 - 1.6x/4.2x compared with 1.5x/4.5x - and a slight bit more compact and lighter and less $$$ - it would look right too I think.
