Acog ta01 nsn?

ITAR. They are on the US State Dept list for non-shipping as far as I know.

So I checked with police ord and this is true.

Someone did mention that I am able to purchase one stateside and fly it back with me in my luggage. Is this true?

I will wait a bit until I pose this question in the legal section to see what comes from it here.

Thanks in advance

This is very incorrect info and could get you in a world of trouble. Yes you are likely to get away with it most of the time however if they check on the US side, then homeland security and other alphabet agencies become involved possibly resulting in confiscation, arrest and charges and banishment from the US for future visits. Phil.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what makes the ACOG ta01 a non-shipping item? I'm just curious... I looked them up and I can't see anything about them that would indicate why this is the case. To my untrained eye, they appear to be regular ACOGs minus the fibre optic strip.

Thanks.

The US govt. will allow some Acogs to the shipped to Canada (with the proper permits) and other similar units that are only different in reticle or exterioir finishes are not allowed for civilian end users. The rules sometime don't make sense but it is their rules. Phil.

They are non shipping items because if mere mortals (civilians) were to get their hands on them they would instantly turn into evil baby killing terrorists that could challenge the U.S. army by the virtue of having a fancy scope.

Sorry for being a sarcastic SOB in my response, but this is the actual reasoning behind it. ;)

P.S. No insult to reason was intended.

Thanks Phil and Ar180Shooter.

If I were to buy order an ACOG from LaRue, and have it shipped to a US address, would I need an export permit to bring it across to Canada then? or would it only apply to the ta01 model?
