Does anyone else with a Trim Pro have a problem getting consistent trim length. After testing every variable I can think of my trim pro still gives inconsistent results. Sometimes it is a few thou too long and sometimes it is several thou too short. It doesn't matter how I set it up, how fast I trim, how long I spin the cutter, how hard I push etc. I cannot consistently get brass trimmed to the desired length. Any ideas?

I found that if you tighten the set screws till they just about damage the threads you can get your results to with-in 1 thou + or -.....
This doesn't make it perfect, but to be honest I'm not sure the .001 will make a differance, not with the way I shoot anyway

I found this to be the case with my Lyman trimmer too. The answer for me was a Lee trim Cutter and lock stud although I soon bought a Zip trim to go with it. Using the calibre specific case length guage to trim, the results are more uniform. I also have an RCBS trim pro and havent bothered to use it and will probably just sell it and continue to use the Lee and occasionally the Lyman for oddball stuff I don't yet own a Lee gauge for.
so far since january i have trimmed 6000 brass yes you can get good results it does take a bit of tinkering to get the adjustments down perfect, if you casn find a corect minimum length brass etc {308 2.005, } to use as a guide set up using that brass and make corrections from then,

The problem isn't in the set up, its the fact that once I have the unit set up properly and tightened down there is no uniformity in trim length which leads me to believe there must be some sort of mechanical abnormaility with my Trim Pro that causes such variation. That is my best guess anyway. When you pay that much money for a set up you shouldn't have to measure each case after trimming to see if you took off too much or not enough. It should be consistent every time.

I'm surprised, I was guessing the collet was your culprit.....
I know it sounds kindergarden, but have you checked the screws underneith for tightness?.....a little play there can cause the problem, don't ask how I know that........
My collet type does this if you do not tighten the collet to the each time, If you over tighten it trims long as I believe it pulls the case further back. I get it set so that I turn the T handle to 3 or 6 o,clock each time I tighten it, and get much better results. I haven't seen the shellholder type of chuck, so I do not know if they have a similar problem.
