3 gun Match in Peace River, Alberta June 19th

We planned out the stages today. If you bring 50 pistol, 50 shotgun, and 75 rifle rounds you should have ample ammo to complete the stages. Minimum round count is, of course, lower than that, but the 50/50/75 should take care of those who miss a lot.

All required shotgun ammo is birdshot, no buck or slug is needed.

Time permitting, we will also run a cash steel match using your handgun. Extra ammo will be need for this. It will be a $5 entry, winner-take-all format.

Match

Guys/Gals,

We should have enough time for the side match if we get everyone to help out with scoring and tear down. I know we will get that help!:) Last time our side match was lots of fun.

I am thinking smokies instead of burgers?

Now who out there is planning on attending?

Greg

Count me in for sure:ar15: Sounds like another wicked time at the PR Range:dancingbanana: Surprise C--K - F--S!:D

Will there be room for a last second competitor?

I may be in the area and wouldn't mind attending, but wouldn't know for sure until the day or so before.

I'm from Ontario but will be in Alberta during your event.

Absolutely.

Will you have all your gear with you or do you need to beg, borrow, and/or steal some?

If I can make it, I will likely have gear, but there is a chance I won't.

If that's the case, there may be some begging.

I will have ammo though.

I'll try and work out the logistics of my trip and hopefully I'll be able to make it.

There'll be lots of kit to use. I normally hire a sherpa to cart my crap to the range.:)

Hope you can make it.

Equipment

So I need too know a little more about what guns are required for the shoot. I've never entered any shooting competition before.

I've got a couple of shotguns

but I'm wondering about the pistol and rifle.

I shoot a Rem 700 in .308 it's scoped.

I only have a .22 pistol...for now ;)

You need:
A centerfire pistol with strong-side holster;

A semi-auto centerfire rifle with suitable sling (AR, SKS, VZ, M14, etc). Scopes aren't necessary as all shots will be less than 200m down to 2m.;

A 12 or 20 ga. shotgun, also with sling. Longer than 20" barrel is more difficult to use and may dig into the ground when you transition to your pistol if required on a stage.

You also need to be able to carry spare ammo somehow. Some stages require the use of two or even all three of your guns.

Thanks for the quick reply.

just to give you an idea,

I am using a
mini-14/beretta 1201/glock17

2 other guys that are coming are using
- sks/moss500/1911
- cz858 or m14/mav88/M&P9mm

our team name is going to ghetto tactical.... all my gear is going to be cast away stuff I found iin my "tickle trunk" where I throw all the wierd stuff I never think I am going to use. from a cheap drop leg holster to a 5.11 bail out bag to hold ammo.... its going to be a riot. :) :)

Match gear

It doesn't have to be the latest and greatest gear. This match is suppose to be fun in the end.

That being said, there was a guy that is participating out today running his latest AR from ATR. Nice rig!

Do some shooting, shoot some bull and eat a smokie or two. That is what it is about. We need to build interest in the region and see where we go from there.

Even when I come in last place, I can sing like my 4 year old daughter, "So what? I am still a rock star! I got my rock moves!"

Another fine sponsor has stepped up to the plate!:D

A big thanks to BBB of S&J Hardware for supporting our 3 gun match. He has promised us some goodies to keep your hardware running even in the worst of times!:dancingbanana:

Peace River has a great range!!! And the guys that put it on are ok too;)

I agree... and to put a single point sling on my wood stocked mini-14 I am just going to predrill the stock and install an eye hook..... ghetto tactical ;)
