Thats actually pretty good, I was prepared for the worst.
I sent my rear site leaf to Dave at NeitArms and had him to it. He has 2 for sale in the EE at the moment that were prototypes for this one.
I feel kinda sad that a Russian Tula wasnt kept original.. but my "damn that is awesome" feelings are kicking the crap out of the sentimental ones
As for the using a Russian 52 ... well, I didn't have a Norc lying around .. lol
It's made by Promag, nice mag, works well. Had to file a bit of the bullet retainers (curved inward pieces that cup the bullets) on the back of them so I wouldn't jam or hang and slam shut. They came as 10rd mags, but I also cut them down to 5.

Sold my windage drum and site post without thinking a few weeks back. I still have the wooden furniture for it in case I ever want to go back. And I have another plain rear site in my tool kit somewhere. The cleaning kit that came with the rifle is now in the pistol grip along with some swabs.
As for accuracy. The Williams site throws it off. I had to set my rear elevation up to 200 on the leaf in order to hit objects roughly 100yds out. It took a bit of getting used to. When I am looking down the rifle, all I see is a red triangle. It makes getting on target a breeze.

Where did you get the mag?
I was tempted to buy the steel 30 rnd's because they seem to work so well, but I **HATE** the thought of such a long useless piece of metal hanging off my rifle, when it's pinned to 5 rnds!
I'd rather have a 10 rnd mag or at most, a 20.
how do you ''cut a 10 rd mag down to 5''?I have a choate Dragunof stock with open sights-would the 5rd mag carry any better?What are the disadvantages[other than perminently altering it-but being pinned, is not original anyway]

Bought it off a guy that answered my WTB. He had two and I bought them both. I don't like the idea of a useless metal hanging off the bottom as well.
The mags have cut points on the side of the mags. Cut, file, trim the spring and put back together. The only disadvantage is I can't have more than 5rds in the mag
Got it off the EE.
I got the front site from Ellwood Epps, the rear site I had Dave at Neitarms do it up for me. And the rest of the rifle &parts came off the EE.
Obviously you would remove the ''frankenpin'' from the magazine which limits it to 5.I'm a little sketchy on where you cut the magazine though-is there a tutorial anywhere?if its a simple job,I'll do it,I can't see having a 10 round magazine when 5 is all you can legally have
The mag that is pictured is made by Promag. It originally came as a 10rd mag when it came into my possession. Along the side of the mag were lines in between the raised etchings that look like # signs. I just cut along the line below these to remove about 2 inches of plastic from the bottom. Filed it smooth and reinstalled the spring and bottom plate.
