Hmmm, there's a set screw through the top of mine, there's isn't on yours? Mine also worked loose and at one point was way off to the side before I noticed. I've since tightened it.

Handguns, especially semi's have got to be the ultimate DIY hobby. So many of the little jobs that come along are super simple and call for very basic tools and skills. Reference books and how-to's abound.
Go slow, research, start small and work up.........and yes hit it with a hammer once in a while.........

John you say all this knowing my ineptness with anything that resembles mechanical ability.
I did however stay at a Holiday Inn once. To the origincal poster I used Liquid weld to secure my dovetails front sight on my Norinco 1911 that Dlask did up for me and it hasn't moved since. Simple fix as John indicates. I wouldn't be to keen on whacking the back of the slide with a hammer but then re-read my first paragraph.

$25 here, $25 there, pretty soon it all adds up.
If you want to throw your money away paying someone to do a job a trained chimp can do=fly at it.
I work by the hour and while I spend my money freely if I see value I am not about to pay someone to do a job that is the equivalent of tying my shoes.
If you know so little about firearms that you can't even fix a loose sight you may want to spend a little time researching basic firearms maintenance and repair.
Or do you pay someone to clean your guns too

I have a fiberoptic front sight on my SP-01, and it has very little movement on it...
is that normal...? is it just pined... or is it a tiny allen key...? can i take it out and shim it...? or is that ok as is...? (the movement is not visible by eye, but i can feel the back of it move up and down just a fraction...)

I have one that does that too. So far no problem.
They are held in with a teeny tiny spring pin. They can be a ##### to take out and a ##### to re-install.

No, I actually like cleaning my guns. But when it comes to any part that determines how accurate my shooting is or reliability (as in things that can make a gun blow up in your face) I would rather not be stingy and let the pro's take care of it. Maybe in a few years I might get comfortable doing it but considering I've only owned guns for a year or so I am not at that point.
