French gevarm models?

Until today I was only aware of FOUR Gevarm semi-auto .22rfs which were sold in North America: E1, A3, A6, and A7. And, I had heard a bit about others, such as a model which only used SHORTS, had an "offset" stock, and a much smaller than usual magazine.

Today I had a guy give me info on NINE semi-auto Gevarms. However, before I accept his info at face value, I'd like to know WHAT his source of info was. Anyone on here know of any factual documentation of the .22s Gevarm sold?

Would appreciate any info.

m6tlogistics, any idea how one would go about contacting this Fong - Wong? Sounds like a fairly high level businessman.

Maybe some kind soul reading this will have an answer, perhaps someone living in Saskatoon who can hunt him down.

Hey there mauser...Dont forget the E2 late model import of the E1. I now have one of those in my hands. And yes I am like you. These are the only model .22 cal that I am aware of. I know there is at least 1 big caliber rifle, shot gun and sub machine gun out there.
 
I know very little about these guns (any of the "Gevarm" guns)...anyone care to post some pics? Don't mean to make this a "picture" thread, but I'd love to learn more about them.

.22LRGUY, here is a pic of the four .22rf offered to the North American market through their Canadian branch. These are the only ones which appeared in their bilingual pamphlets, and in ads such as those found in the S.I.R. catalogs.

Only the A7 fires on a closed bolt.

And, boogaloo, yes there are Gevarm-made guns other than the .22rf.. But the E2 was not intended for the NA market due to it having the threaded muzzle for a silencer. Someone else told me that just before the branch in Canada shut down they were selling crates of E2s to dealers. I have nothing in writing to document that, but believe that it could have happened as they were shutting down production, just to obtain something out of their leftover inventory.

I've yet to see an E2 Exploded View/Parts List pamphlet printed in anything but French. I've got a stat of one of these for the E2 and it plainly shows the threaded muzzle. You didn't mention it, but does your rifle have the threaded muzzle? If not, I would then ask how you determined it to be an E2 rather than E1. Thanks for any further info.

I imported the E2 EXPORT MODEL, the last one made by the factory. Its one that was made to accept silencers, but they didn't thread the barrel. The factory made a front sight that is held on by a set screw.

I do not have anything in print. All I know is I bought one with the threaded muzzle from SIR. I played with it for 20 years or so and sold it on the EE. It is still around and not likely the only one they sold, oui?
 
ginseng503, I've got a couple of old S.I.R. catalogs from the '70s with Gevarm ads. No mention of threaded muzzles anywhere. I also have an A7 with threaded muzzle but have no idea of its origin as I purchased it by mail from a dealer here in the US who had heard of my interest in Gevarms.

While living in BC for 18 years I acquired 11 different E1s, none of which had threaded muzzles. In those 18 years I attended dozens of gun shows on both the Island and the mainland and saw VERY few Gevarms, none with threaded muzzles.

It's only been in these later years that the threaded muzzle guns have come to light.

E2 purchased in 1985

I have the E2 with a threaded muzzle and a ferrul that threads on top to finish it off. The butt of the stock as well as the hand grip did not come with the plastic bakelite plates. It is just plain wood. Nice gun none the less.
 
The late manufacture E2 Gevarm .22's didn't have any black bakelite on the stock. They were plain wood. I have one new in the box...
 
When I imported Gevarm E2's from the Factory in France, my contact there told me that North Sylva Co had imported guns from them. I still have all the dealer information from that time in my files.
 
If anyone's interested in learning prices original Gevarm mags are bringing now, I'm currently offering one of my original 20-rd mags on GunBroker.com. User name on there is Shansei45. All that's been bid on it so far is the opening bid. Still five days to go before it closes. However, system shows there are THREE watchers...

I've got in file a screen print-out of an 8-rd mag that sold for $206 on June 8th last year on GB!!! Nothing special about it except it was one of those with the neat Gevarm logo stamped into the spine - not particularly unusual. :confused:

The 1987-88 SIR catalogue shows a "Gevarm S/A Rifle".
The stock in the picture is a straight grip unlike the previous E-1's
It specifies a 49 cm barrel with a 6 grove barrel and 450mm pitch to the rifling.
Overall length is listed at 100 cm and weight at 2.5 kilos.
The list price in 87 for this re-introduced model was 369.89 with magazines listed at 39.99 and 49.99 for the 8 and 20 shot versions.
No where in the ad does it call this rifle an E-1 although other than the stock it appears identical to the previous versions.

Also of interest in the same issue is Remingtons Nylon 66 marketed as a Black Diamond at 192 dollars (black and chrome version) and I.V.I's version of the same gun marketed as the Black Beauty for 146 dollars.
