Took my new "good trade" Remington SPS out today to test fire and make some brass. I threw on a Tasco Varmint 6-24x40 scope on here temporarily unti I get some decent rings for Elite 3220 3-10x40. Anyhow, I shot some Rem. 150gr CL RN and some Federal of the same wt & bullet type. Believe me I won't be loading RN bullets with this puppy! After adjusting the trigger last nite she broke at an even 3lbs. The only thing I did'nt like about the trigger was even with the over travel adjusted there was a wee bit of creep. That did'nt affect any of the shooting today as it was over come quickly. All in all I was quite happy with this rifle. Anyone else have the .270 SPS also? I'm going to work up some loads with 130gr bullets & H1000 or even go with the normal H4831.
Any loads to share out there from anyone??

I have an SPS, but it is in 30-06. I have found numerous loads [both handloads and factory loads] that will shoot under an inch [at 100 yards] with this rifle. I have a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 on mine. I bought mine new, and it has the first generation of the X-mark Pro trigger. I don't notice any creep on it, and it breaks at 3 lbs. When I first tinkered with the trigger I thought it was good, so I took it to the range. When I slipped the safety off it fired. [I was pointed down-range, and in the shooting position, so no harm done]. Needless to say I tried again at tinkering. I tightened it up just a smidge, and put nail polish on the screws to hold them in place. Now it's a great trigger.

I don't reload for .270, so don't have any recipies. You may find more recipies if you ask on the reloading forum.

The Remington rifles get a lot of negative things said about them. A lot about quality not being there etc... especially when talking about the SPS models. I sure have no complaints about mine!
