Yeah they were made but they aren't very common. I've never seen one. Google "browning citori 16 gauge" and there's a fair bit of info.

I've seen them but they are not common. The Citori wasn't in production for very long in 16 gauge. The gun's frame was the same size as the 12 gauge so it didn't have the same appeal of a 16 made on a frame scaled to the gauge.

Claybuster is normally a good reliable source of shotgun information, but in this instance I must disagree... They are built on Browning's 20 ga. frame.

I have been shooting a Citori White Lightning 16 ga. snce 2004. Citori 16's were listed by Browning as a stock item for a few years in the 1980's and again as a Shot Show Special (one year only) I believe in 2003. They were built in many configurations, upland special and ultralight with straight grip, lightning, gran lightning and white lightning with round knob grip.
They are not especially light as 16 ga. guns go, (my Merkel is lighter) but they handle well for a Browning.

I have a match to my 16 that is chambered in .410. Stock dimensions on the 16-20-.410 guns are a bit higher at the comb than the 12 ga. version, and for me at least fit better for the rising birds most often encountered when shooting upland game.

The Citori 16's are equipped with choke tubes and can handle steel shot, but the commercial steel loads available for the 16 are best at close range, under 35 yds or so. Denser pellets like Tungsten-matrix work wonders in the 16 and turn it into a truly capable waterfowl gun in addition to its natural talents for upland game. I like mine! - but you have to be a true "nut" to appreciate a 16's subtle appeal over the more mundane 20 ga. or the utilitarian 12.

Used Citori 16's can sometimes be found for about a $200 -$400 premium over the same gun in 20 ga.

Actually they are made on there own frame not the 20ga. frame i have one with 28'' bbl very nice handling shotgun they were not listed in Canadian catalogs a U.S deal they were also made for large distributors state side as special orders with a minimum order of x number of guns.

struff55, you have stimulated my curiosity. My .410 and 16ga Citori White Lightning shotguns appear identical except for the barrels, I always assumed that they were BOTH built on the 20 ga. frame. Is there some other Citori frame that I don't know about?

I have a 20 ga Citori and the 16ga frame is definitely a bit large than the 20GA. frame I don't have a 12GA at this time but I know the 16GA is smaller I'm not sure about the 410 bore I have seen 4bbl citori Skeet guns all built on the 12GA frame but I thought the 410 had its own frame .

I was curious about the previous discussion about frame sizes, so I measured my 12 ga citori, my 16 and .410 citoris and my 20 ga. superposed. ( don't have a 20 citori) Each are a little different, just as struff55 told us they were. Learn something new every day!
Here are my quick measurements, length x width x height: inches
Citori 12: 4.11 x 1.58 x 2.69
Citori 16: 3.92 x 1.46 x 2.49
Superposed 20: 3.86 x 1.44 x 2.36
Citori 410: 3.92 x 1.44 x 2.43

Not sure what to make of this.

The one 16 gauge Citori I've seen belonged to one of the guys at the club. It seemed noticeably larger than than the 20 gauge Feather XS I owned at the time.

Perhaps they are 16 gauge frames. I found this link that claims they were.
