Just got off the phone with a local Canadian Tire here...
First time I've ever seen such a difference in the price of the 2.
Winchester is $29.86 plus tax, and they want $34 plus tax for the Federals:eek::eek:

Anywhere's else see this fluctuation???

This is the reason why I reload. It's not only cheaper, the loads are better.

I can rememeber about 10 - 15 years ago(when Homehardware sold ammo) you could get the winchester(Ranger they were called at the time) for $3.97 + tax a box:eek::eek::eek:

Man Those Were The Days!!!:shotgun::shotgun::shotgun:

Many Home Hardwares still sell ammo. Why do people pay 30$+ for 100 rounds when 250 of the same loads are 55$ give or take 2 bucks.

There is also a difference in components when the two factories load for the mass market.
Fire 100 rounds of each and see what the inside of your gun looks like, barrel, muzzle and trigger group.
This just one small step in comparing apples to apples and Brands to Brands.
Also, the performance is also factored in there as well.
Check the fps and payload on each and you will start to see the difference between the two.
It just isnt about .06 difference between shells.
Smoking Clays is Fun.

I found the winchester all purpose 100 packs to be heavy on the recoil , and they did not pattern near as well ( we could see a difference in the clay breaks in two different guns) . Pierced two primers in one box as well!

Was that what they call the Win. Universals or the Win. Super Targets? The Super Targets aren't bad but the Universals are about the worst shels I have ever shot.

They were the Universals.
We sell the Super Targets at the club ( 12 gauge only) and nobody has complained at all, they seem to be pretty good, yup.
Oh, and the Universals are THE WORST hulls to try and reload!!
Absolutely no wall strength.

I used to reload too but lead shot got too expensive. I have about 7500 Win AA hulls in storage until it get's economical to load again. What are you paying for shot? Are you loading hunting loads or target loads and how many per year?

Ya think paying that kind of money for factory stuff is bad? I shoot 28 gauge guns!!
Anywhere from $145 to $190 a flat dso0ome times, and don't even talk about single boxes in small time stores - as high a $30 per box!!
When you are shooting upwards to 100 birds every other day, handloading really saves, and I can build tailored hunting ammo that kills WAY out there and is far less expensive than factory stuff.

Well, for science, picked up the feds...These were a different shot (7 1/2's not, 4's) so I can't really compare patternsns but, I can say, shotty much cleaner with Feds and, they don't smell quite as "farty"...I'm still lousy bustin clays.

...any one remember Supremes? CT 'el cheapo and, boy (when lead was legal) duck was never so cheap!
