I had a early Springfield all GI gun that had been modified over the years, all the mods made it shoot better but when I got it back I did not like the glass stock, scope rail, camo and all the Underwater Ninja Knife Fighter crap...today the all GI goodness is back. All GI parts, nice markings on the stock, NM sights, unitized gas system etc etc ... I am thinking of having her refinished (Oldsmobiler's looked super nice) and putting a fake FA selector on her and retiring her to the safe. Like I said before, I love everything about these except shooting them. Thanks to Steve for the stock, Barney for the small GI tidbits.
I will take better pics later on.

I too think you should refinish that stock. I offerd to help you restore that beauty but after I posted in your last thread I never heard back from ya. PM me if your interested ;)

I was just holding off until I got all the parts back on her ...this particular stock is real nice, the pics don't do it justice, but she needs a good cleaning and a waxing ...where do we start?. I think I will have the metal redone as well ...

2 ways to do this. If you just want to add a new wax finish. Or did you want to get into the traditional tung oil type of finish? Meaning did you want to leave it the way it is and just added a protective finish. Or did you want to do a full restoration of the stock to an original finish?

What  ?? No mirror KOMMANDO bling cheesegrater schtuff on the stock? WTF? You must have ANPAQ-15 laser and weapon light for the zombie invasion!

What a nice rifle to look at! :D

That's gorgeous! Thanks for the eye candy!

NM M1A's were glass bedded, as I recall. Mind you, it's been 30 years since we sold 'em out of the shop I worked in then.
