"Rifle Burst Test"... and the winner is ???

The action didn't fail, the barrel burst on both the Remington and the first rifel(browning?) Makes me wonder if the steel used in the barrel of these two rifles is weaker? Would have liked to see in which manner the barrel's were obstructed too.

What would you expect from a rifle designed purely on the low cost of manufacture?

Everything about the 700 is about making a rifle as cheap as possible. It is a testament to the power of marketing that a 700 costs what it does and a Tradex Mauser costs what it does. Sans marketing and profit cost a 700 should be far cheaper then a chinese SKS. Just look at the specialty tools available to accurize a 700 available from brownells and you get a sense of how little they do in the factory to the tube that makes a 700 action.

Interesting that the actions were'nt venting gases? Guess the resistance of the obstruction was less then the failure point of the brass? What that says about the barrels that failed I am not sure but it aint good LOL>

And the winner is.... European rifles, by far all better rifles than the american junk!! I'm glad I own a Sako.

Found this on Youtube. Interesting that the only 2 American made guns fare the worst. Not are their cars built better but it seems their guns are too.

Check it out:

The Remington 700 is the only one of the rifles shown that is US made. Browning and Howa are made in Japan, Zoli in Italy, Sako and Tikka in Finland, Steyr in Austria, and Blaser in Germany.

At any rate, I'm not too concerned, seeing as I don't plan on shooting any of my rifles with a plugged bore.

NO Calibers Listed
NO Reference to plug method, is it exact from gung to gun
NO bullet/ load listed

Equals fail of test, don't trust youtube. If the test was preformed by qualified researchers the data and method should be published for review.

According to 700 guys shouldent having the bore pluged on the tikka blew up all of the plastic parts they like to rip the t3 for having. I guess that a plastic mag has nothing to do with the strenght of steel in the barrel. I will take a higher quality barrel over a metal mag anyday.

The Remington action did not blow...The barrel did......Big difference.

Even still, Remingtons failure seems the most catastrophic. If they're using a lower spec steel in their barrels what makes you think the actions are any different?(comparably)

I'm not a Remmy hater, just find it interesting that that particular gun failed so miserably.

Remington,

I found this video on youtube and was wondering what tests remington performs on its barrels to ensure the safety of its users in the event of a blocked barrel discharge? I just want to know for my own piece of mind.

I own an 870 express and a 7mm Sendero and love my remington prducts.

Thanks for your time.
