Hey All,

Anyone out there have any information on the Sauer series 202 rifles? My local shop has one for sale in 300 win mag, and I am in the market for a new hi power for moose. I know they're pretty expensive, I'm just wondering if anyone can say yay or nay as to if it is worth the expense. I've handled it in the shop, and it is a work of art, but I have'nt spoken to anyone who has shot one, or can tell me first hand how accurate it is.

My dad had the predecessor, the model 200, and my brother has a 202. They are worth the money in my opinion. I can't think of a single flaw in their design or function. They are accurate, reliable, and look good to my eye. German engineering at its finest.
If you like how they look and handle, I would say you can buy with confidence.

My father bought one & I sighted it in for him. Very accurate and exceptionally well built.
Its a bit heavy coming in at approx. 9.3lbs with a VXIII 3-9 40mm, otherwise I cant find any faults.
One thing I'll add is dont get caught up the interchangeability hype...too costly. He thought it would be nice to have a wood stock set for it until he received a quote. Are you ready for this....1300 bones!!!!!!

thanks for the feedback guys, I was getting worried for a while there, normally the replies come quicker!
Right now the only thing that is slowing me done is that it is 300 win mag, if it was 30.06, then I would have grabbed it already, 'cause theirs my all purpose gun, but I think I just may do it anyway.
Thats crazy about the furniture kit - $1300!, you can get a nice rifle for that!

Thanks!

P&D in Edmonton lists 1 Sauer left at $1699 and it is in 30-06 with a synthetic stock. FS

i had a few dutch clients show up with these on a moose hunt once. they are very fine rifles. well finished, smooth as silk actions. they did seem rather "over" built for my tastes. seemed much more at home in a clean, dry german boar hunting stand then on foot in central BC, dragging around in the wet and mud looking for moose..
