Looks like the Sig P210 is getting revived yet again. This time around will be made in germany and will have all the latest updates including heavy frame, american style mag release and a big beavertail. Word has it longslide 210-5LS version will be made as well. Has a few other upgrades as well. Price is around 1950 euros and 2200 with micrometer sights, so that should translate well to canadian dollars. Wont be as much as the last run was ($5000 was it?).

Manufacture of the P210s seems to be an on-again, off-again thing. I think this is at least the second time that they have been reintroduced after being discontinued.

Does anyone know if they will make them in .22 lr? I read somewhere that they used to sell them in .22, but ive never heared of anybody with one. Im not interested in another 9mm, but this would be the ultimate rimfire handgun, thats for sure.

They used to make a 210-7 in .22LR but those ones were very rare and considered a collector item, Ive seen them sell for 5,000 euro. More common was a conversion kit consisiting of complete slide and mag to convert any regular 210 to .22LR, those are still rare but a lot easier to find and quite a few were made. Most recently I rememver Trade Ex had a number of them for sale: A used conversion for $1200, or a brand new late-production unit for $1800.

I asked Sig Germany if they will be making any more .22LR conversions and the answer was "no plans yet for .22LR conversion OR FOR 6" 9mm models, so no plans for P210-5 or P210-5LS at the moment." I also asked if the older .22LR conversion will fit on the new P210 Legend but never got a reply. If the slide has not been changed much I would think you could make a cut in the .22LR mags for the american release and make it work. P210 with a .22LR conversion could very well be the ultimate rimfire handgun but it comes with a price to match. :)

I'm skeptical. Remember when everyone clamoured for Datsun to bring back the Datsun 510? They did- an "improved" version that nobody wanted.

The new models are already showing up at canadian dealers. I got a chance to look at one today .... its very nice but the trigger leave something to be desired. The internal drop safety they added messed up the trigger. There is now a weird feel to it when pressed and also there are two instead of one clicks when reseting the trigger, its really strange and not at all as nice as the original P210. This is similar to the whole Series 70 vs Series 80 1911 issue. Maybe a competent gunsmith can remove the internal drop safety or just smooth it and the trigger out .... but for $2500 (thats the price) I expect perfection form the factory, not a gunsmith project. To sum it up in a word: disappointed.

The fact that the slide has long rails and rides INSIDE the the frame and it also has a very nice single action trigger, those things helps. We are yet to see how these new ones will compare to the older swiss made pistols.

One of the reasons I bought a CZ Shadow was because of this design similarity. I don't know if CZ set out to copy the P210, but they produced the closest thing to a P210 that I could afford. With the 13# mainspring installed, the CZ's trigger weights in DA and SA are much improved, and very nice to shoot.
