Winchester/Federal 100rd Valu-Paks

It is not only shotgun shells. The price of .22 ammo has really gone up. Home Hardware is about $24 for a Federal 525 pack ($19.95 when on sale) and Canadian Tire is close to $35 for the same Federal 525 pack. Canadian Tire wants almost Ten Bucks for a box of 100 CCI .22 Shorts!

Two years ago, I cleaned out a Saskatchewan Co-Op of the same Federal Champion HP 525 packs at $12.95, and last year, the same thing at $14.95.

I was in Lethbridge on Friday, and stopped in to Wholesale Sports for some 204 shells, and checked out the price of trap loads while I was their.
Winchester Super Target were $65.00/flat of 250 and Federals were $55.00/flat for 250. They also had AA for, If I remember correctly $86.00/flat with a $2.00 a box rebate.

Stay clear of CT as no shotgun shell ammo deals there. Fed. and Win. target loads are 64 bucks/flat at W.S. in Winnipeg. I prefer the Federal stuff as it seems to be a bit cleaner and lighter recoil than the Winchester. I remember 41 bucks/flat not more than a couple years ago.:(
 
Federal and Winchester are in the midst of a price war. Last year flats of 12ga competition loads were averaging $65.00 from both companies. This year with the price of lead riseing dramactally, they average $55.00 + tax. The "promo packs" are of lower quality made for the chain store market. Winchester competition ammo, over the last few years, is of questionable quality with sizing as well as performance problems. Federal competition is a better choice in this pricing and has had no issues cycling semi autos -- you will Infrequently find a primer seated too deeply for the lower barrel in an o/u shotgun --- simply wait a short time for safety and shoot it from the top barrel. With that being said, I sell Challenger to retailers and gun clubs in the Maritimes & our prices for competition loads in 12ga have gone up to $65.00 this year because of lead prices but we do not make promo loads and we are up in sales over last year.
 
Exact same price difference here on vancouver island.

Anyone have any problems with the winchesters not wanting to eject from a remi 870 after a few rounds?
blew off a 100 round pack of frederals with zero issues. Soon after switching over to the winchesters, the gun would jam up and not eject the spent round.

The gun was hot, but this is the second time this has happened.

What do ya think?

That $2.00 rebate is tough to cash in on in Canada. They mailed me a Discovder Card which no one including the stores who sold me the AAs would honor. After much whining and sniveling and a bit of letter writing, Pre Paid solutiions mailed me a check for the full amount. Looking back it was not worth the effort.

Top Gun is way more dirty than Super[p-Target.
