These things were designed by professionals, not Mr. Murray! My advice is to keep her stock, and keep her clean.
Probably production costs and feedback from the "field". The free floating design has a low failure rate, and as noted numerous times, reliable when kept clean. I simply soak mine in a large baby food jar filled with kerosene.Just to inform you that the first sks were spring loaded pin from factory,dont know why they gone to free floating pin after.
